Looking for a new reel for my 7'1" MH/F rod.
Just be patient, a new one pops up every couple of weeks. Highly probably a good one will show up for Labor Day.

MD is also like VA, illegal to possess, but permissible to release to the immediate body of water it was caught from.

Popper recommendation
I too throw poppers in the middle of the day with plenty of sun. Personally, I think they are more attracted to the sound and action, than actual color, but if you want black Lobina Rico in Volt. Expensive popper, but I rarely lose poppers so I don't mind spending a bit more when I know they'll catch. My favorite popper is the Evergreen OB Magic Gill though, it will catch in all kinds of conditions.

Hopefully you don't feel like I villainized you! I respect your own personal preference to kill a snakehead at the request of VDGIF, but just disagree with any assertion that they "should" be killed because that's what the VDGIF wishes. I see the same thing when people keep large sized bass, they get villainized on social media, but it's clearly within their right to do so. Offtopic, but I find it ironic that some bass fisherman will tout killing snakehead on social media pages with tons of pictures, but when someone asks them where they were caught....crickets.

Daiwa Zillion SV TW for $99 on Ebay from a zero rated seller. I'm 99.99% sure this is a fraudulent listing, but I went ahead and purchased one knowing I have protection from Ebay and Paypal. Yep got an email saying it's gone.

Extra fast vs fast
Some "innovation" is purely marketing hype though...standards could weed those out, and really give consumers true innovation.

Extra fast vs fast
I wish there was a site that would show how rods bend under specific weight loads in increments of like 2 lbs. I started to buy my own rods, and I still get quite confused sometimes on how a rod bends based on the power/action for my intended use. For example, when I was looking for a popper rod, I was hyper focused on a 6'6-6'8 Medium Power, Moderate or Moderate Fast rod with a short handle that could throw 1/8 to 1/2oz lures. I couldn't find one other than people talking about the Allstar Zell Rowland TWS back in like 2012. I then came across the 6'8 Lew's Custom Speedstick Plus TWS and but it was rated as a ML/F and I was hesitant because I like a softer/slower tip for poppers...but it had a short handle that was hard to find. I eventually bought it and I love it. The action is fast, but it has a very soft tip that takes very little resistance to get to the backbone which is what I wanted for absorbing a shaking fish. So now, I've come to learn that the bend of a rod also depends on a whole lot of factors including the rod power, which also vary by manufacturer...Daiwa Tatula's are underrated as many have said, and which is what I primarily own. I also recently bought a Team Daiwa Zillion 7' M/XF that I am unsure of what to do with. Again, it bends very near the tip, but it does not take a lot of pressure to get to the backbone so I'm thinking that I will make it a light jig rod, or shakey head rod. If things could get standardized, I'd save a whole lot of money experimenting and playing with new rods!

Special Lures That Never See Water
Hula Popper is #1 on my list...I know it can catch fish, but I just keep throwing an Evergreen or Rico popper.

Received New Rod Packaged in just a lightweight triangle box
Kinda funny, but I've had 2 tips break in those nice thick round tubes from Cabela's because they tape the tips to the rod case, while I've received over a handful from Amazon in the triangle boxes taped together at the middle with creases everywhere and none of them were damaged at all. *Knocking on wood for the future*. Either way, buy from a reputable vendor and you should have no worries.

My TW order status is shipped, and I have a UPS tracking number, but it is not updated yet. Most likely it will arrive next Monday from CA to DC.

Garmin Malfunction
It shouldn't be a tight fight, but it does take the correct angle before it goes in "freely". Just make sure the next time you put it in that you keep trying a little at a time with different slight angles before it'll take and you feel that spring pressure.

Spinnerbait storage
I normally store them in a Flambeau spinnerbait box, but when I'm bank fishing, I'll toss a few into an open core Plano 3607, along with trailers and other baits that I will think about throwing.

Advanced Baitcasting
I'm guessing why most people drop shot with a spinning reel, along with finesse line. Also another technique I'm just getting into this summer. So I think that technique would work in water about as deep as your rod, +/- a few feet. There are a couple spots in my local reservoir that go to 15 ft real quick. To get the proper presentation, I'm thinking I'll need to launch it high up in the air so there's a lot of slack in the line and finish with a high rod tip. New to deep t-rigs, and maybe a drop shot would be a better presentation. Edit: just found this video:

Advanced Baitcasting
Just curious, for bottom fishing jigs, do you thumb the spool to stop it on splashdown too? I'm getting into flipping and I've notice if I thumb the spool when the jig hits my target spot, since there's no slack it'll hit bottom closer than the intended target.

Striker 7sv or Helix 7 si
This is last year's model, the non-plus, non-touch pad version. SV is amazing, I was coming across a stretch of bank where there was an old railroad track and it showed the tracks with high clarity on the land. I think I have it set use CHIRP 800khz for SideVu, and CHIRP 200khz for DownVu.

Does Maryland still offer bounties for snakeheads
Didn't mean you had your facts wrong, I meant people in general basically state that they must be killed in all circumstances, which is happening a lot. Yes, agreed, your facts are 100%.

New to electronics, boat setup
I think it really comes down to comparing "Plus" features of the Striker (Wireless Active Captain, networking) vs. Built-in Maps of the Echomap. Both will have Quickdraw, DownVu, ClearVu and a 5" screen.
