Classic Meet Up?
TnRiver46 is right, Calhoun's on the River is great. It's also near blast off. Ruth's Chris Steakhouse is about 100 yards from Calhoun's, they share parking. Calhoun's is moderately expensive, Ruth's Chris is crazy expensive! Neither place serves breakfast. There's a place on Union, close to the Expo site that has killer breakfast, I'll have to find the name. Also downtown, close to the Expo, are several eatery's. On Market Square, there's a Subway, Tomato Head, Blue Coast (Mexican), Tupelo Honey (excellent) and several more places. On Gay Street, there's the Downtown Grill and Brewery, and several more. Downtown Grill and Brewery is one of my favorites. Also, check out Mast General Store on Gay St. Great place and they have all of the old time candy that you can't find anywhere else. If you walk, or drive, to the Old City area, you'll find Barley's Taproom and Pizza, Lonesome Dove, Boyd's Jig and Reel (English food) and several more places. Boyd's has a huge scotch selection, not that I would know ?. If you drive over the Henley St bridge (it's the bridge closest to Neyland Stadium), you'll McDonald's, KFC, Wendy's, Bojangles, Arby's, etc. You'll also find Buddy's Barbeque (local) and a couple of Chinese places As you can see, there are a ton of places to eat and for every budget. As far as meeting up goes, is everyone wanting to meet at the Expo, weigh in or go out for a beer and eat? Barley's Taproom in the Old City is very family friendly and they have an upstairs area. That might be a good place. It's a mile or two from the Expo site. There is some parking beside the place, and a free City owned parking lot under the bridge right down from it. There is also a pay lot a block or two away. They are more expensive than Domino's, but not bad. Everything is made to order and made on site. The breakfast place on Union Ave is called Pete's Coffee Shop. They are open for breakfast and lunch only. They close around 2:00 and are closed on Sundays. TnRiver46 and Oregon Native may have more suggestions. If you can tell one of us where your staying, we can probably help more. I'm a p/t delivery driver and TnRiver46 travels all over town for his job.

Classic Meet Up?
Your motel is basically right on top of the Worlds Fair Exposition Center. That's one of the two buildings being used for the Expo. The other (Convention Center) is directly across the street. I live in Knoxville and I'm really hoping to meet some members too.

BPS Fishing Classic Info?
No apologies needed brother, it's never been in the ad. It's just what we did. With BPS, who knows? They change things all of the time. This year they may have changed the policy. That's why I always preface with "When I worked there."

BPS Micro Lite Ultra light w/ Micro Pflueger President
I own the 48" version of the BPS Micro Lite rod with a Tennessee handle. Get this, I bought mine in 1988! Been a great rod for wading. I can't tell you how many times I've thought about retiring the old girl, just can't bring myself to do it.

Is bed fishing ethical?
Legal = yes, Ethical = nope. That being said, I realize that it happens both accidentally and on purpose, life goes on. I refuse to purposely bed fish, as do most (not all) of my friends.

BPS Fishing Classic Info?
When I worked there (left last year), you could trade a rod for a reel or vice versa. In most cases, yes. In the ad, the "on sale" rods and reels that you can use the trade-in certificates on are noted. Got to read the fine print in a BPS ad. The PQ2 ad says "Excluded from rod and reel trade-in and any other discount. Limit 5." If I learned anything working for JM/BPS, you got to read the fine print in the ads.

BILL DANCE RECOVERING FROM HEART SURGERY
I've been watching Bill Dance since I was a kid. I'm praying for his speedy recovery. Got to meet him twice at BPS. Heck of a nice guy.

Bass Pro Excel mono
That's the one question I never got answered while working at BPS. Not sure if it's XT if XL? Heck, it could be old school Stren mono? Pure Fishing is the parent company of both brands.
-
Bass Pro Excel mono
I use BPS Excel mono line. Great line, can't beat it for the price and how much line comes in the spool. It's made by Berkley. The "clear blue fluorescent" means it will glow under a black light. Great if you fish at night.

Fishing Shows
My name is volzfan59 and I have a problem. Went back to the fishing show this evening while my wife, daughter in law and granddaughter went to a play. I bought eight Luck E Strike Rick Clunn RC2 square bills, eight RC2, series 1 "Freak" crankbaits and a bunch of local made soft plastics. To be honest, she left me unsupervised.

Personal fishing bloopers
One time me and an old buddy of mine were pulling my old Jon boat out of Station Camp Creek, Old Hickory Lake, TN. The trailer lights were up on three foot poles that had pvc rollers around them. Instead of securing the boat to the trailer, my buddy said "I'll just hold onto the light poles". He grabbed the rollers instead of the pole. I heard Bob holler, looked up in the rear view mirror in time to see Bob's head disappearing as the bow of the boat came up. I still chuckle when I think about it.

Fishing Shows
I wish that I knew you were there. I would enjoy meeting you face to face. I think I'm going back this evening. There's some Rick Clunn "RC2" crankbaits that are calling to me.
