  1. I've never had success while trying but have had great results with a 4" ring worm.
  2. I've tried all different styles be it creature, craw or minnow and always end up back at the old school split tail trailer. The tails put out a crazy amount of animation without interfering with the action of the lure itself, then again, they were designed as a trailer so it stands to reason.
  3. I picked one as well to organize some loose 3700's that I already had.

And not small worms at that, 10" ribbon tails by the look of it!
  5. Teckel has a Lemon/Lime color in a couple of styles, lime green heads with all chartreuse bodies.
  6. Back when I was shore bound I got to the point where one day I'd had enough after losing three new hard baits in a handful of minutes. Now I'll go in after anything but plastics without a second thought but I grew up swimming in everything from cattle ponds to the mighty St. Croix so it doesn't really phase me, confidence is the key to safety and success.

I'd trade my Field and Stream for a Fleet Farm any day!

Location, location, location. The F&S in Chesapeake is located to take advantage of traffic from folks on their way to the Outer Banks as it's just a couple of miles from the exit to the main route to OBX.

I believe it's part of a corporate rebranding strategy, Dick's handling the golf, stick and ball, apparel, etc... while their Field and Stream outlets handle the hunting and fishing side of the game. They actually closed an anchoring store near me in a thriving mall and have a huge Dick's/Field and Stream combo anchoring a new location as primary. The on hand inventory is way better as it's a full size store and you don't have to wade through a clothing store to find the good stuff but prices at Field and Stream are still too high.
  10. I had great success using a 4" version as a chatter bait trailer last year, better than any version of Rage swimmers, craws or grubs did by a long shot!
  11. I've not in an area with a feral hog problem but if I was then I imagine that access to all the thick hide a guy could want could be had for free. Imagine the profit margin that would provide!
  12. Those old Lew's, regardless of model, just have a certain eye appeal that stands the test of time.
  13. I ran a Tournament Pro G against my Shimano Chronarchs for a couple of seasons and honestly found it to be far less 'fussy' as far as brake settings and it fished every bit as good and dare I say even better. In fact I liked it so much that I've picked up another as well as a couple of Pro Z's and will be on the lookout for a few more.
  14. I've run Rage Swimmers, Menace Grubs, various fluke styles, creatures and craws but my best bites have been on downsized trailers. Old school split tail trailers have been a winner and I've really been liking a a 4'' hook tail ring worm as well. Those two put the biggest fish in the boat consistently all summer during all conditions.
  15. $236.26 shipped from DIGITAKA, left or right hand retrieve and available in all three ratios.
  16. I've had no issues with my Chronarch MGL but I remember there being an 'MGL' specific problem with both of the reels in question, gear related if I recall.
  17. The Met utilizes an aluminum alloy gear set for weight savings. Nothing wrong with that and I've never had any issue with them in other reels I own but I don't feel the trade off is worth it given a choice.
  18. Even if they were priced the same I'd take the Chronarch every time if for no other reason than long term durability of the brass gear set.

I always have one tied on as well as a chatter bait, in fact, those two are the only 'always' lures I throw every outing!
  20. Same thing at the one in Hampton, Virginia, always dark and everything that you came for is gone.
  21. I miss Fleet Farm more than anything, there is no place in the world like it and I've been around. They have great deals on euro and domestic military surplus as well!
  22. I've tried it only because I already had the snap/swivel tied on. I found it to offer less 'feel' in terms of what the bait was doing and found the chatter vibe was dampened to the touch which I thought to be detrimental in picking up delicate strikes.
  23. The chatter bait is my go-to, always tied on and fished more than everything else in the box. That being said it does lack one important attribute of the square bill, buoyancy.
  24. I bought a few 1/4oz Wave Jigs with various shad based skirts from Siebert just for this application. The quality you expect and still on sale at $2.39, it almost felt like stealing them!
  25. If it was last week then that was me you talked to. The fishing is better at the far end of the lake, probably because it's the farthest from the launch and doesn't get as much paddle traffic. Motorized boats are few and far between, weekends mostly and still sparse as there's a great city launch right across the road where the water becomes Lake Smith/Lake Lawson. The lake front residents seem to fish seldom though they've all been very friendly when I've encountered them. I think the fishing will pick up now, the water temps are below 80 for the first time since spring, heck I fished a lot when it was reading 90+ though mostly I was charting and scouting for better times and not worried about the nonexistent bite. Caught three tonight and they're still pretty lean so maybe a some feeding to gain strength before the fall frenzy, I think the heat really put the denizens on a diet from baitfish to bass. As to the Jersey wall, It might have been when the rebuilt the culvert/d**n-lake leveling thing a half dozen years back. My coworker flipped his yak going through the old system in a heavy runoff condition and died so they went whole hog on a new design to prevent that from happening again.
