Unique Jig Trailer?

Featured Replies

I stumbled upon a YouTube video. I was curious of your guys thoughts on using a senko, for a trailer on a football jig or bladed jig, ect. Thoughts?

Never done that, but I did use the back-half of a Cut-R worm on a swim jig the other day. Didn't get bit, but it looked really nice in the water.

I don't see why it wouldn't work. It might be fun to use a magnum trick worm or something that has a lot of mass and floats a bit, and then you could treat the whole thing like a massive shakey head.

I know a small stickbait is a very popular choice as a trailer for a finesse jig. I don’t see why upsizing the whole presentation wouldn’t work. On a moving bait like a vibrating jig there are probably better choices as you want some sort of movement from your trailer. A swimming senko or swimming dinger are very popular choices as spinnerbait trailers since they don’t “overpower” the bait like a swimbait could.

Maybe try out a normal senko and let us know how it works!

Common trailer.

Any soft-plastic trailer can be hooked to a jig, and all will catch bass.

When choosing a jig, I'll normally lean toward 'bulk', using other presentations for slender stuff.

I use them on a bladed jig more than a regular jig but they work well on both.

A-Jay used a Senko for a jig trailer with big results on a Mexico trip several years ago.

I use plastic worms on jigs . Before the jig&pig became popular we used the jig&eel .

I've never had success while trying but have had great results with a 4" ring worm.

Definitely not what id consider common but yes they work. My cousin fishes a senko on a finesse jig in cooler water with decent results.  I personally prefer a little more bulk and prefer different things on a jig but id try it and see what it does

I did but it wasn't my idea.

Old Sixto (the guide) was all about it.

At first I thought it was pretty "goofy".

It's a staple for me now.

They've been fishing it there for as long as the Senko has been around.

 7 inch Senko & a Gamble Best-O-Stick both
