  1. I know any day on the water is good, especially with with my grandpa its just a lot better if we both catch fish. I would have much rather had him catch my two dinks and more. Ive got to get him to use a b/c too :
  2. Is the 100HA meant for finesse or heavy fishing?

Went to the same lake again but didnt do very good. I only caught two bass, a 13 and 16 incher. I missed a biggy on the jig in one of my hotspots and had another one slam my rapala beside the boat. I had a jointed Parrot shadrap on my new Zillion 100HA. The bass looked to be at least 4lbs which would have made a nice first fish on a new reel. I guess the new reel curse stands true lol. Even though I didnt catch much I enjoyed the trip a lot and I found another place that holds bass. I think this trip deserved some better fish since my grandpa and I had to drag the boat 50 feet to get it in the water because it was too muddy for the truck to go >. Worse yet we had to drag it uphill to get it in the trailer again...
  4. It looks like its about 5 inches. It cost 9.99 if thats any help. Ill let yall know if I catch one with it tomorrow.
  5. They sale these at my local store. Does anyone know much about it? I got a trout colored one for christmas and the store mentioned has permission to be the only store in the area that can legally sale them.
  6. Reaction Innovation's Swamp Donkey 8-)
  7. What lakes do you fish? There are a few people from SW VA that probably fish near you.
  8. My new Zillion is already my favorite even though I havent fished it yet and my Viento would be a VERY close second.
  9. I had to leave before I could read any suggestions but got a 6'6" Fenwick that feels great. Ill get to try it out Friday unless it rains a lot so I'll tell ya how it goes.
  10. HA! Once the lakes up so that you can launch bigger boats we need to meet up there. Right now my grandpa's bass hound is about the only thing that will go in. About the secret spot, I catch almost all of my good ones in about a 200 yard radius. I found a new spot that Ive been getting HUGE hits in so maybe Ill get a new PB soon. Sounds good. Ihaven't been up there since back in June/July but am definitely gonna get my permit this year and give it another go, I haven't been out on it in a boat in about 7-8 years. I started fishing it in 98 but I fished for trout and bluegill 90% of the time. It was fun, we hooked about a 3lb perch (state record) that broke off, caught 20+ inch trout, and I got about a 15 inch gill. After I catch 3 more trophy bass I think Ill go for trophy trout, perch, and a gill so I can get the master and expert angler awards.
  11. I just got a Diawa Zillion for Christmas and I need a suggestion for a rod. Im probably going to use it for cranks, topwaters, and small-medium sized swimbaits. Ive got enough money to get something pretty good but under 200 would be more practical. Thanks

  13. I love that show, it gives a more personal view on stuff that isn't advertized out the %!@%. And mikeD, if you ever have an urge to fish in southwest VA theres some good fishing ;D
  14. Thanks Hey hawg caller how bigs that bass in your pic, that things huge!
  15. Ive got a LG AX35 and thats what I take 90% of my pics that I post on here with. I think it does an alright job but I got it last year so I doubt they make them anymore.
  16. Id suggest any Diawa. A TD-S rod is around 100 dollars. You can get a megaforce for 60. Thats what I just got and I like it.
  17. I like the Megaforce A LOT. It casts a mile, I could freespool jigs with no problems, and it got smoother the longer I fished with it. The only thing I didnt like is that it doesnt have a strong drag. I had it cranked down to better handle the 15# test but it was still slick. Im hoping it will get better with time like my other reels have. For day one I would give it 3.5 out of 5 stars.

Got to the lake today and the ramp was iced over. It wasnt thick but about 1/8 of the lake froze since saturday. The day started bad when the trolling motor prop had to be manually spun to get it to work. It didnt get any better when I missed a decent fish. Then I lost my new handtied jig on some mystery hangup in one of my trophy spots. The place looks like VWV\/\/ on my depth finder but the water isnt low enough to see it. Around 2:00 the fishing got good when I started fishing a brush pile that I missed a fish out of earlier. My grandpa and I missed about 4 20+ fish before I finally got a 13,17,18,15, and a 20 inch. My grandpa also caught an 18. My 20 went 4lb3oz. Notice the shirt
  19. I bought the 7.1:1 Megaforce at a local store. So far I like it but Ive just flipped a little bit. I put it on a 7'0" TD-S jig rod with 15 lb P-Line flouro-coated stuff. It doesnt feel quite as good as my Viento but its better than a Pfluger I own. I should be able to try it out tomorrow so hopefully Ill have some good news BTW was the 7.1:1 a good ratio for jigs? I usually make mid length casts at thick brush and stumps and my average fish is about 14-16 inches long.
  20. ;D ;D ;D That started with that big drum you caught years ago! We need to fish some this spring... so I can catch your fish.
  21. Im planning on sending all of the papers if/when I get 10 bass so I can get a reward thing.
  22. The patriot's coach,
  23. People that steal my fish (true story about that) jetskiers, and right now exams.
  24. Thanks, I wear that shirt thing every weekend exept for the last one because it was warm and I nearly got skunked! It ended my streak of catching at leat 5 keepers >. The one I got was 19 inches though so it was fun.
