  1. Haha, yeah I think it’s definitely a northern thing, but in all honesty most people here don’t actually say it as much as everyone thinks. It’s not like it’s used in every sentence like you see on tv sometimes. I’d go into more discussion about accents and vocabulary, but I gotta go get ready to watch the Leaf game eh! ??
  2. It’s like the mafia, only really one way out ?
  3. I figured that, was just messing around with ya ?? You mean his “eh” game.
  4. As a member of the Canadian anglers club myself, I’m not sure exactly what I’ve personally done to be congratulated, but thank you @volzfan59, I’ll take it ?.
  5. Didn’t get a chance to see the northern lights last night, started to get hazy after dark, I stayed up for a while and saw a couple minuscule flashes, but nothing worth getting a pic. Did have a pretty nice sunset though.
  6. This pic of the northern lights was taken last night in my hometown, Parry Sound, On. ( not by me, I was fast asleep?). I’m gonna stay up a bit tonight to see if I can spot them, shouldn’t be too hard as we have a fantastic view of the west and northern sky here, and we’re far away from any light pollution.
  7. I’d love to post more pics, but since we’re still well iced in, it’s gonna be a while yet.
  8. So you got like, three of them now ?
  9. That’s better than we have. I could probably get a pic of a tuft of brown grass sticking out of the snow, but nothing green just yet?. That’ll change real quick though once it starts, always the way it is here in the north.
  10. Maxscent flatworm and flat nose minnow. Pretty much all I use now on a drop shot and I’ve caught literally hundreds of nice smallmouth on em the last few years.
  11. I get that quite often on Georgian Bay for smallmouth. Some days it takes a while to find the right rock hump, but when you do they can be stacked up on it like a pile of firewood. I’ve sat with my trolling motor down and caught fish after fish on a drop shot for over two hours, never moving more than about 20’ in any direction. Every time it hits bottom just close the bail and set the hook cause there’s another one on, and most days they’re all clones around 4-5lbs or so. Spoils you for other spots when you can’t hardly scratch together a decent sized limit ?
  12. Perfect dinner for a cold, windy and snowy day we’ve had up here all day. Big ole batch of venison stew.
  13. Yeah, I’m pretty sure it’s gonna be at least another week before I’m boating ?
  14. You buy the plane ticket, and I’ll be there by Wednesday ??
  15. I posted this a few weeks ago, was bringing a ton of flagstone back to my shop to cut for a fireplace, and while backing into the driveway I heard a weird squeal. Apparently somewhere, likely fairly close to the shop, my hub detonated, and the only reason the tire stayed on was the 2000lbs of stone holding it from bouncing on the bumps on our road. When I got the stone off and jacked it up, I slid the tire right off with just my hands! I’m pretty good about checking and greasing, and even did the touch test on the way home when I got gas and it wasn’t warm at all, but at about 20 years old I guess it was due for something to go. The spindle was all grooved up, and not in good shape so I just bought a whole new axle assembly, springs, u bolts and hardware and replaced it all, so I’m good for another 20 years ( hopefully). First time in over 25 years I’ve ever had a trailer issue, and hopefully the last for a while.
  16. @12poundbass, here’s another one for you?. Our most handsome boy! We have a couple of these big Lilly’s in pots in our house and in the greenhouse, had em for years now. Every year about this time they send up one big, bright orange bouquet about the size of a basketball. A sure sign of more greenery to come for us.
  17. I ordered 6 topwater frogs online a few weeks back. They were some colours that simply cannot be bought anywhere around me here in Ontario, so I ordered them from a supplier in the states. Three different colours, two of each colour choice. Everything went through and got the tracking number etc. last week I got two packages in the mail. Each package had two baits in it, and the third one is still somewhere in Chicago according to the tracking. It’s no big deal, as I won’t be using them for months yet, but why they couldn’t put six little bitty frogs in one package to ship ( all came from the same store), is beyond my thinking abilities?.
  18. One cup every morning, and sometimes if I’m out and driving by a coffee place I’ll hit the drive through and grab one, but not too often. It doesn’t seem to bother me one way or another if I drink more, so I don’t usually have more than one a day.
  19. Right around my house, most of the lakes don’t have a ton of weed growth, except for pads in the shallower bays, and cabbage beds in 3 to about 12’ of water. There are usually bass around them though. Some lakes have quite a few laydowns, sunken logs and most have quite a few docks. Everything else comes off of some form of rocks. If I head an hour or two south of me then I can find lakes that are chock full of various types of vegetation, and pretty thick too.
  20. Looks just a touch high!
  21. Spent the weekend at our hunt camp on our annual bush run on the snowmobiles. Just a bunch of buddies bombing through the bush on a bunch of older, smaller sleds that are perfect for poking around the swamps, ponds and forest. Conditions were great, with a couple inches of fresh snow the night before, then sunny skies and warm weather. Nights at the camp with some adult beverages and card games, and a pond side shore lunch of top quality hot dogs!
  22. 50/50 green or brown here. No spots. Most lakes have both species in them around me.
  23. I grew up in an old farmhouse that was built in 1890. Those dang things came every spring and built nests in the overhangs every year! One was right outside my bedroom window. When I got old enough to hunt, I’d sit in the back yard with the 12 gauge and pepper em out of the sky as they flew out of the hole in the house. Finally after many years, my dad got around to redoing the soffit and facia, and they had to find some other poor saps house to cause a ruckus in.
  24. Well of course he’ll confirm that. Pretty sure it ONLY rains where he lives ?
  25. When does the year normally end there? Our school year has always gone to the end of June here. We’ve also had a ton of snow days, at least one every single week this winter, but they don’t add extra days on at the end.
