  1. I'm camping father hennipen over memorial day weekend, what pattern should i expect? I am assuming mostly spawn to post spawn? Don't really want to pester the ones on beds but would be curious to what others do that time of year.
  2. I only have a 7" at my bow, I think it would be difficult to see the 360 along with the map and 2d sonar. however, I could run that for a season, and add another unit in the future. first world problems for sure... Cost wise they will be very similar, I will have to add the Ethernet hub and buy a bracket to mount the 360 to my Terrova. Buying a 7" Garmin on sale and the panoptix PS22 transducer would run me about the same overall. thanks for the replies so far, I am still on the fence. I think the Panoptix holds a bit of an edge because it can be used on the ice too, but I think the 360 would be a quicker learning curve.
  3. Thinking out loud, it is diffidently a trade off to showing the full 360 view around the boat in a slight delay vs. real time for a narrower field of view. My other concern is how clear structure shows up on the panoptic. examples on the ice show a clear crisp picture but the transducer is not moving. I am curious how clear rocks and fish towards the bottom show up on panoptix when the transducer is moving with the waves.
  4. Currently have a helix 9 si at dash, networked to a helix 7 on bow. This works great for fishing isolated bolders found while ideling. I want to add a structer finding device to the bow, thinking of either adding another helix and HB 360 or panoptix with a Garmin unit. considerationsfor 360, already familiar with helix, but would need to add an network switch, and preferable another display unit. Considerations for panoptics, i would buy the ice kit for winter (1/2 our fishing yearin MN) couldn't add waypoints on structure found and have it share to other units. Interested in hearing who has used both or either. What is one to do?

  6. I am lookingat the ice bundle too, with plan to mount it on the bow. Has anyone considered mounting the ice bracket at bow so it can be moved independent from TM?
  7. Curious who has used them and if they are worth the money over a $80-100 reel? Looking to use on a dropshot setup.
  8. If you can, idle around the lake afterice out and and look for any structure or irregularities before the weeds come up. Side imagineing makes this easier but can be done with 2d sonar
  9. when in doubt, match the color of bait to the color of the water and surrounding cover. Nature tends to camouflage itself, so a lure that matches its surroundings will seem normal to bass
  10. For starting out, I recommend 2 rods. 1. a wacky or texas rigged weightless senko. Spinning or Casting rod, depending on what your comfort level is. I prefer a bait caster, but a spinning works well too. Throw it next to any visable cover, let it sit, set the hook! 2. have some type of moving bait to cover water, swim bait, spinner bait or swim jig. I prefer a 7' Med fast bait caster for this.
  11. I use the #2 VMC Neko hooks, very happy with them. high hook up %
  12. I have limited my tackle, i find i only throw what i have confidence in. So i am in the camp of having several rods rigged with my most confident presentations. I always have a weightless senko, a spinnerbait (swim jig is phasing out), a deep crank bait, a dropshot, and a few more that i think will produce on the lake that day. I loke the speed of changing presentations without retieing. Faster fishing, also lets me better match rods to techniques. I normally have 5-6 rods on deck, and several more in locker
  13. I will br fishing clubs this summer for first time. I plan to trow baits that typically get fewer, but bigger bites, and my partner will throw a wacky senko to get us up to a limit
  14. Search: breaking down lake maps with josh Douglas and seth feider. Its a great webinar on the subject
  15. I like 1/2 oz when dropping on a very specific target like an isolated bolder. It allows me to get bait down fast, and let the boat drift off a bit while keeping the bait in place
  16. They had a sale on a bundle of photoshop and premier elements 2018 for $99 so I purchased it. Used it to edit some Christmas footage and am very happy so far
  17. +1 on voting for the Cabela's ZX Tournament on sale for $70. great rods, lifetime warrantee. could buy 2 and stay in budget
  18. If I could afford it, I would pick up a Daiwa Tatula ASG rod. I use a St. Croix Bass X 7' medium, I am very happy with it for drop shots. as far as ML vs. M, an argument could be made for each, depends on the rating of the specific rod you look at.
  19. I'm rooting for Seth Feider's mustache
  20. Cabelas has their arachnid reel (tatula r) for $105. Awesome reel for the money. They also have thier ZX tournament rods on sale for $70. I own one and just ordered another. Whole set up is under $180 and a great setup
  21. Check out Josh Douglas and Seth feider's webinars. All information, no hooksets. Especially good for us in North Country.
  22. I was not aware of that, thanks for the tip, I will check it out
  23. Wow I love adobe products, just can't justify the monthly subscription. I should add the footage is really just for me and friends. Mostly memories for my daughter. Not trying to fill youtube.

  25. I recently picked up two hero 5 blacks. I am not impressed with the limited functionality of GoPro Quick. Looking for suggestions for a free to moderate cost program that people like. Would be nice to have music included, and easy slow motion. Also, any filming / editing advice is welcome
