  1. Welcome aboard! 8-)
  2. Twelve year lows: DJIA -281 at 6594 S&P -25 at 683
  3. The bottom line is that there is some technical justification for right handed people to reel a baitcaster with their right hand. However, the market today offers left or right hand retrieve on most models. Buy what you feel most comfortable with. Here is a discussion from awhile ago: http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1187794805 It seems this topic has come up nearly every week this year. So, if you run a search or look back through the last 20 pages, you'll find some in depth discussion. -Kent a.k.a. roadwarrior Global Moderator
  4. Never. 8-)
  5. The website referenced above has no credibility: SMALLMOUTH BASS World Record: 10 lbs - 14 oz :-? Regarding lures for pre-spawn, choose your favorite lures. Everything works this time of year! 8-)
  6. Here's the story which was told to me "first hand": The fish was a brood trout which was released into the White River and monitored. It stayed in a somewhat isolated pool. According to my witness, the Arkansas DNR shocked the area and retrieved the trout. Several days later the new World Record was landed on the banks of a new housing project on the Little Red River, which was financed by a developer and a number of notable politicians. Coincidence? Anyhow, that's the story. :
  7. The Beatles I guess it kinda worked out for them... :
  8. 3/4 oz Single Willow Blade fished on deep structure. The technique is a long pull lifting the lure, then dropping on slack line...Repeat until you feel you are "out of the zone". I don't think the color is particularly important, but I use white with a silver blade and chartreuse with a gold blade. No trailer for me, but that's up to you. My rig is a St. Croix Legend Elite, EC70MHF, matched to a Shimano Calais 200 and spooled up #12 Yo-Zuri Hybrid. Strikes always come on the drop, so pay attention or you might have your gear ripped right out of your hands! 8-)
  9. A little off topic, but still "trout"... I fish the White River where, rumor has it, this German Brown was caught and transported to the Red River: http://www.fishing-arkansas.com/byspecies/natural-state-trout.asp 8-)
  10. I'm afraid so...#6 is what you need (.010" diameter, 11.9 lb test).
  11. The rod you're looking at will be fine: http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1196114229 8-)
  12. Welcome aboard! We have lots of young anglers. Decide how many packages you want to mail and have members under 18 send you PMs. You select the winners, notify them via PM and have them send a mailing address to you. ** NOTE ** You cannot use the PM function until you have 10 posts. -Kent a.k.a. roadwarrior Global Moderator 8-)
  13. #20 is very stiff and wiry, but more importantly, you cannot break it when you get hung-up. I don't think this would be a good choice for any casting. Maybe trolling for stripers, salmon or lake trout, but nothing involving cast and retrieve. 8-)
  14. Welcome aboard! Check your messages. 8-)
  15. I find this pretty interesting and it certainly addresses the question posed. However, I don't think it has to be that complicated: Power fishing = baitcaster = Yo-Zuri Hybrid #12 Finesse fishing = spinning tackle = Hybrid or Hybrid Ultra Soft #6 8-)

Money back guarantee...What more could you ask for? We have a large number of members that are using MegaStrike and have been VERY pleased with this product. Give it a try, I think you will like it, too! 8-)
  17. Welcome aboard! 8-)
  18. No. Reel Magic is a silicone spray, nothing more. You can use it as a line conditioner or to clean and shine the OUTSIDE of your reel. This should NOT be used as a substitute for oil and grease. 8-)
  19. As George noted earlier, all guides are "paid", the tip is a bonus. 8-)
  20. Wow! After 5 you have to weigh them. I would guess 7 lbs. 8-)
  21. Has nothing to do with the bass. I would release it unless the fish were mortality wounded. 8-)
  22. Pros: The 10" Ananconda is a big bass bait, moves a lot of water and offers a huge profile with exaggerated action. Cons: Numbers aren't good. I think the Anaconda scares off 1-2 lb tournament bass. I fished it late last summer and fall with excellent results, but I think this spring it will really shine when bass put on the feedbag! 8-)
