  1. Most of the guys around here are fans of KVD Line & Lure Conditioner. Reel Magic is nothing more than a silicone spray that washes off quickly. KVD is water based and forms a molecular bond with the line. This is a much better product and environmentally friendly. 8-)
  2. I think one manufacturer makes 80% of all plastics which are subsequently "branded" and re-marketed. When Brent sees this post, I'm sure he can shed some light on the subject. 8-)
  3. I guess I must be missing your point. Why would a bar be any different than any other enclosed place? I would love to be able to have a beer without having to endure cigarette smoke. If I'm drinkin', I'm smokin'. Ventilation fans to remove smoke are readily available and should be an option rather than banning smoking all together. Last time I checked, tobacco was still a legal substance. 8-)
  4. Please... Come join the fun! 8-)
  5. Megabass PopMax: http://www.tackletour.com/reviewmbpopmax.html Lucky Craft Pointer 128: http://www.luckycraft.com/luckycrafthome/Products/jerkbait/pointer128sp.htm I also like the Sammy 128: http://www.luckycraft.com/luckycrafthome/Products/topwater/sammy128.htm 8-)
  6. Oil is in free-fall this morning, down over three bucks at $45 and change. Inventory numbers were released this morning showing the glut has grown. We may see new lows sooner than later. ;D ;D ;D p.s. The current price of oil has NOTHING to do with our country's need for a comprehensive energy program. That is a matter of national security. If the cost of developing shale oil is $60, $80 or $100...Let's get moving! We can guarantee a floor and the resource is virtually unlimited. >
  7. Well, I don't care about smoking in a restaurant, but a bar? Gimmie a break... 8-)
  8. I consider it a win if I plan to spend a $100 and it ends up under $200! 8-)

  10. Muddy, That's quite a collection and should give a lot of our guys some great tips for building theirs. -Kent
  11. Okay, one more warning and I'll quit being a drag on this thread: We (BassResource.com members) have had HUGE issues with guides. If you decide to go to Fork, make sure your guide is "approved" by one of our guys.
  12. Welcome aboard! 8-)
  13. Well, it might be April in Texas, but it varies around the rest of the universe. Everything works in the spring. Low light is the key spring throug fall. For most of us, winter is the only time topwater is a loser. 8-)
  14. MARTY! MARTY! MARTY! I love the chant. Always a loser, but at least he has been consistent. BTW, Oakland cheerleaders are super hot! That's a great selling point for the slug. 8-)
  15. Welcome aboard! Go to "Introductions" and introduce yourself. 8-)
  16. Geez... Where's the Posse? Why does the Sheriff have to be the lead? Strong, smooth, silent and reliant. Get the Stradic 2500FI and be happy for years. The rest are are simply wannabees... ICAST "Best In Class" 8-)
  17. If Shanahan goes to Dallas, T.O. and Packman are gone. No more drama, no more "Dallas" the soap opera. I'm not sure he's up to the task, but Dallas needs a Rotor Rooter treatment! 8-)
  18. Well, you know I'm kinda fond of equipment, so I'm not too far away from anyone when it comes to appreciating a fine rod. However, if you have to make choices, the jig and plastics rods are where the money should be spent. "Detecting the bite" doesn't really come into play with other techniques. Line? Well, I think it has to do with the presentation and impacts the bites, big time! More importantly, it might be the deciding factor in landing a World Record fish. :'( Reels? The best example is smallmouth fishing. Without perfect performance from the drag, dream fish are lost...period. Casting, retrieve, line management and feel also come into play. Strong, smooth, silent and reliant is all I want. Hooks? If they're the wrong ones, you'll never really know what you're missing. Most people just think "sharp", but "strong is just as important. Now back to the rod. No doubt it is important and perhaps the most important component. I like to know the rod I'm fishing is exactly the right one for the job (technique). Once we're past that, we can focus on more important things, like presentation for example. Fishing with the complete package is my goal. 8-)
  19. http://www.metalprices.com/ http://www.kitco.com/market/ Warning: Don't get involved in the commodities market unless you have lots of money to lose. 8-)
  20. High quality gear will not make a poor fisherman a great fisherman, but it will make a good fisherman better. Locating fish is #1 Lure selection 2 Equipment may be a distant third, but it's still important. First is line; second is hooks; third, in my mind, is the reel and last is rod. The rod may be more important for "catching", but it's the reel that makes "fishing" fun. Regarding Tiger Woods: I think he could beat just about every golfer in the world, that isn't on tour, using nothing but a 7 iron or just his putter and no other club. That doesn't make it right for you and me. 8-)
  21. I use Gamakatsu or XPoint 4/0 EWG Offset Worm Hooks for soft plastics most of the time: http://www.***.com/descpage-GOSWG.html For some larger baits, 5/0 Offset Round Bend: http://www.***.com/descpage-GRBOBK.html 8-)
  22. Just $13 away. We may still see $25, commodity prices are very volatile. 8-)
