Weight of this smallie?
I think that fat belly might push her to 5lbs or a little better. Maybe the tail is just turned a bit in the photograph, but the width looks like that of a smaller fish. Most 5+ smallmouth have what appears to be a disproportionally large tail fin. Nice fish, great pic! 8-)

Who is your favorite all time quarterback?
Marino played during the "Elway Era". Most noteworthy stats: Super Bowl Wins: -0- Career Yards Rushing: 3 Marino played an extra year just to surpass records set by John Elway. His accomplishments are squewd as a "one man team" dedicated to the pass only. Elway, on the other hand, was a true leader, all around athelete and team player. 8-)

What baits do you always tie on for an outing
Assuming I am in a boat and fishing for green fish: Fat Ika 1/2 oz Micro Munch Tackle jig/ GYCB Flappin' Hog or NetBaits Baby Paca Craw Lucky Craft Pointer 100 or 128 (baby bass) 3/8 oz Cavitron Buzzbait (early), black on black 5/5 oz XCalibur Xr50 Rattle Bait (blue & silver w/ orange belly) http://www.***.com/descpageXCALLPSCRNK-XCRB.html For brown fish: Mostly a split shot rig and live bait! LC Pointer GYCB Fat Ika, Kreature or 5" Single Tail Grub From the bank: I only carry one rod, an assortment of soft plastic and jigs. If I fish hard baits, usually just one "choice of the day" 8-)

How-To Approach it: Calm Fall Morning
I would focus on smallmouth exclusively, but still might snag a green fish. The first place I would start is around the points, positioning in deeper water and casting into shallower water. If there were a slight breeze I might start with a Sammy, Spook or Caviton Buzzbait; if calm, Lucky Craft Pointer 100 or 128. Later, Fat Ika and 5" GYCB Single Tail Grub. By midday, focus on structure in deeper water with jigs and a DD22 (white). I wouldn't waste any time in the cove itself, it might be infested with green fish chasing minnows! 8-)

Who is your favorite all time quarterback?
Yes, and he may not be able to play again. He is one of the "Great Ones".

Why do crankbait rods have to be different from standard rods??
I'll have to think about that...Maybe tonight I'll test this on a couple of rods. I think I understand what you are saying, but I'm having touble visualizing these differences. Perhaps explaining a specific example would help: I have a St. Croix Avid AC66MF which I have said has a "soft tip". The rod loads as you have described, but very quickly. The same MF rating on my ES70MF has what I would describe as a very firm tip. What makes them different or how do you describe that difference? Thanks for the insight, it's very intriguing to me! 8-)

AIG Bailout
Well, that money won't be recovered, but if it's any consolation, a high percentage of their compensation was in restricted stock which is now worthless!

Oil Prices Plunge!
Oil is currently $92.20, about a dollar higher than yesterday.

AIG Bailout
The AIG top management has been fired as well as those running Fannie and Freddie. Additionally, severance bonuses have been eliminated. In all instances, shareholers have been virtually wiped-out. The companies are not being "saved", the attempt is to have an oderly transition of assets and services from these entities to others. If these companies "survive" it will be in name only, ownership will be transferred to other parties.

Where's the big ones?
Welcome aboard! My #1 suggestion is to get away from the bank. Focus on structure associated with deeper water. Spend some time in the BassResource.com Library ("Fishing Articles" at the top of the page). If you scan back through the "General" section you will find numerous threads dealing with structure. Good luck! 8-)

---> what's your go-to jig trailer color? <---
Blue is one of my most effective colors for a variety of lure classes. My theory is that "blue" just appears as another shade of black, especially in low light, stained or deep water. 8-)
