  3. Either way, that's too bad. Experiences like this are made worse when our expectations are high. Good luck with your new Abu Garcia. 8-)

  7. Excellent post! This should be very helpful to a lot of guys thinking about making the leap into boat ownership. The "Real" cost is probably more than many realize. 8-)
  8. Hey Lobster Monster, Welcome aboard! 8-)
  9. Joe, I'm a little confused. Your signature lists a PB largemouth, 10.2 lbs. How did that happen? My best advice is to find a highly regarded guide to fish with for a day or two. You already have more than the basics and a little professional help at this point will do wonders. This is the best investment you could make to advance your fishing skills. Good luck! 8-)
  10. Great way to start the holiday! You'll have to take me with you sometime, I have never fished Glenn Springs. -Kent a.k.a. roadwarrior 8-)
  11. Man, I'm full on my twenty "Favorites". Now I have to decide which one to delete so I have room for this thread. Great job, Catt! 8-)
  12. Either save up a few more dollars or buy a used Shimano Citica. They come up for sale on the Flea Market frequently. http://www.deloscustomtackleshack.com/reels/shimanocitaca.html 8-)
  13. Well, swimbaits are the "hot lures", no doubt. Many of our Big Bass Boys have posted some remarkable fish, both in numbers and size. Otherwise, soft plastics and jigs. That doesn't mean other lures won't work, but if you are playing the percentages, these three classes of lures/ baits rule! I also think size matters. Again, smaller baits produce big bass, but the odds favor bigger presentations. I'm not a member of the "A Class", I don't fish gaint swimbaits, but I do favor big worms and large profile jig rigs. To be specific, my largest swimbait is Mattlures Baby Bass; 6" Senko; 12" worms and 1/2 oz jigs with GYCB Flappin'Hog, NetBait Paca Craw or Double Wide Sweet Beavers. In theory big bass might prefer a bigger meal, but I think the most important aspect is to discourage smaller fish from bitting. Sometimes you need to get past the tournament fish! 8-)
  14. 3/8 oz Black on Black. 8-)
  15. As a dedicated rig for deep divers and big lures, I like 5.0:1. For general use and most shallow baits or fast retrieve, 6.2:1. Unless you plan to fish deep divers a lot, you really don't need a special reel or rig. 8-)

  17. I don't think so... I really don't care about 3 lb bass. All those tournament guys that have to step on a fish to make it a "keeper" can have that stuff. I would rather catch nothing than little fish. I wasn't always like that, but now that I'm spoiled, I ain't going back! Honestly, 8 hours, 15 lbs and 4 little fish just doesn't trip my trigger. Three bass and 23 lbs works, but one fish 10+ works better! I have absolutely no interest in just "catching a fish". Not catching "tournament fish" is worth the story to me... Go big or go home. 8-)
  18. Welcome aboard! It doesn't sound to me that you need any advice. Great job! Keep it up. 8-)

  20. Mr. Mike! Nice to hear from you, buddy. Have you been catching any fish or having some fun? Send me a PM when you have time. Maybe we can get together on the White River this fall. -Kent 8-)
  21. Well, except for BassResource.com members, I think the guys should stay close to the bank... 8-)
