  2. Woo-hoo! Man, those are some fine fish and nice pics, congratulations! 8-)
  3. Maybe this will help: http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1158577137 8-)
  4. First up, we had a Fireline thread running recently. Several members, including myself, rank it among the worst lines we have ever tried. Regarding knots: Uni to Uni, Blood Knot or Albright knot http://www.animatedknots.com/knotlist.php?LogoImage=LogoGrog.jpg&Website=www.animatedknots.com 8-)
  5. Here is another notable post by Joe S. : http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1189609782 8-)
  6. Both bass look either side of 3 lbs to me. 8-)
  7. Although gravel bars are generally considered spawning grounds, we catch smallmouth throughout the fall and winter on this structure. Overall, the bars rank evenly with the "better" structure and faster water on the outside of the river channel. Surprising, huh? 8-)
  8. My vote goes to Mattlures, Minnows and Mattshad series: http://www.mattlures.com/minnow-series.htm http://www.mattlures.com/mattshad.htm 8-)
  9. Mann's -1 Bomber Square A And my favorite, Norman Fat Boy 8-)
  10. The Fat Ika has been my #1 soft platic for a couple of years now. I think it really shines on still water targeting smallmouth. Universally, a "must have" bait!
  11. Congratulations! 8-)
  12. GYCB Senko GYCB Fat Ika GYCB Kreature GYCB Kut-Tail GYCB Swimming Senko That would be a complete "package". All of these baits can be fished on 4/0 EWG Gamakatsu Offset Worm Hooks. The Senko and Fat Ika are fished weightless I like a 1/8 oz bullet weight for the Kut-Tail and sometimes the Kreature. A 1/4 oz bullet weight for the Swimming Senko and you're ready to go! Senko. 8-)
  13. This is what Gary Yamamoto has to say: http://www.insideline.net/articles/swim_senko.html 8-)
  14. Initially, I'm sure all three reels seem very comparable. Over time, Simano reels have gained a reputation for durability. Every Shimano I have ever owned is as good or better today than they day they came out of the box! Strong, smooth, silent and reliant. This corporate motto represents all that Shimano is about. A reputation that has been earned over decades makes a statement in itself. I would choose the Citica. 8-)
  15. Your "best" rods should be those you use for soft plastics and jigs. This might help: http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1196114229 8-)
  16. They aren't... The biggest difference in the species are where they prefer to live. Largemouth favor cover, smallmouth assocciate with structure. On a river, smallmouth in current, largemouth in slack water. 8-)
  17. Goodyear Fortera: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Goodyear&tireModel=Fortera+SilentArmor Plus rebate: http://www.goodyeartires.com/cfmx/web/gytires/promotions/UpTo100Rebate/index.cfm?src=nascar&certificate=CGoogleSearchNPP3?cmpgn_var=s_15_46337&buf=999&gclid=COLC8ri7mZQCFQyfnAodPzKnfg I run these on a Toyoto Sequoia with no issues. 8-)
  18. Buy a new rod, it's not worth fixing. 8-)
  19. You rig the Fat Ika skirt up, weightless & weedless. Fish the bait exactly as you do a Senko. http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1141053342 Good luck! 8-)
  20. Excellent! 8-)
  21. So you are saying that the "big bite" is between 10-3??? Yep. Fish Chris is even more specific: 11:30 - 12:30 or "either side of high noon!" 8-)
  22. No, that has never been my experience. Gravel bars are as close as I can get to similar structure. Sand or mud bottoms are not productive on the Tennessee River. 8-)
  23. Sounds like everything but the fishing worked out okay. Did you catch a smallmouth? 8-)
