  1. We have several members who fish the lake. I hope someone will drop by and reply. 8-)
  2. Great pic! 8-)
  3. You could post this in "Bass Clubs", too. I put it here because I think you might get more response in this section. -Kent a.k.a. roadwarrior Global Moderator
  4. Welcome aboard! 8-)
  5. So...How do you palm a spinning reel? :
  6. Welcome aboard! I hope someone will be by shortly with some help. 8-)
  7. I'm a big fan of the Palomar Knot, but I have been experimenting with the Sixteen-Twenty (also known as Duncan Knot and Pitzen Knot) on some heavier line and it seems to be fine: http://206.210.94.83/assets/recommended_knots/pdf/fhf_knot_sixteen_twenty.pdf The San Diego Jam is basically the same except you thread the tag through both the bottom and top loop: http://www.netknots.com/html/sd_jam_animated.html 8-)
  8. Better hurry if you're interested.
  9. Welcome aboard! Spend some time in the BassResource.com Library, "Fishing Articles" at the top of the page. We have an extensive selection of materials and links to even more! Two books I would highly recommend are available in paperback: In-Fishernman's "Largemouth" and "Smallmouth". These are great introductions to the sport. http://www.amazon.com/Largemouth-Bass-Fisherman-handbook-Strategies/dp/0929384113 http://www.amazon.com/Smallmouth-Bass-Fisherman-Handbook-Strategies/dp/0929384504 Good luck! 8-)
  10. Maybe during the tournament, just because there are so many boats competing for spots. However, "pressure" doesn't seem too importnat if you consider water like Lake Fork for example. When we (BassResource 2nd Annual Roadtrip) were there in March, 2007, there wasn't any organized tournament being held during the week. However, the lake was packed! From what I gather, it's usually that way. Here's what happened: Due to the wind, we were somewhat restricted for spots to fish. A protected cove near the lodge was the closest refuge. This particular water was fished constantly by literally hundreds of boats and thousands of fishermen. Still, both Glenn and Keri were able to land Personal Bests! I can assure you, nearly ever boat in the general area had fished that exact spot sometime during the week. "Pressure" just might be overrated. 8-)
  11. For me it's been jigs...still is... 8-)
  12. You're in for a very pleasant surprise! 8-)
  13. We have a lot of guys on this board that agree with that observation! 8-)
  14. Wow! You done gooooooood! Everyone has a favorite line. You could give the regular Hybrid a try if it's available. Otherwise, Gamma Copolymer, P-Line CX Premium or Maxima would be my suggestions. Obviously, I'm not a fan of braid. 8-)
  15. Welcome aboard! 8-)
  16. Maybe this will help: http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1196114229 Substitute spinning tackle with the same ratings for the baitcasters I suggested. Be patient and keep an eye on our Flea Market. Great deals show up all the time. 8-)
  17. Great post! I think this response might apply to a wide range of topics. 8-)
  18. This just ran a couple of days ago: http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1214122549 8-)
  19. Oops! Chris at Tech is probably right. I fish Swimming Senko, Mattlures Minnow and Shad on M/F spinning tackle. For heavier baits, a heavier rod is certainly called for. I fish the Baby Bass on an EC70MHF baitcaster. 8-)
  20. I suggest starting with one rig that will do everything for you. Buy a 6 1/2' or 7' Medium Power/ Fast Action spinning rod and a reel that fits your budget. If you want specific recommendations, tell us what you are willing to spend. p.s. If you browse back through this section, there are hundreds of threads with rod & reel suggestions. However, just state a price range here and you will have a number of recommendations in short order. 8-)
  21. Hmm... I would never switch baits when something is working. The biggest challenge in choosing the "right" lure is whether the bass are more focused on baitfish or the bottom, i.e., fast moving lures or finesse baits. Changing lures/ baits is something I do when it's not working! To take this a little further, I do think you should stick with fish you have found and changing lures may be the ticket when the bite slows down. So, to some extent, I am in agreement with "working" the area, but I would stay with a lure as long as it is producing. 8-)
  22. For the small swimbaits use whatever you do for other soft plastics. You don't need anything special. I fish a St. Croix ES70MF spinning rod. p.s. Try the Swimming Senko, too! 8-)
  23. Exactly my point! 8-)
