  1. I think you should replace those ugly green trout in your avatar with that pretty brown fish! :
  2. Ooooooh! That's a fat girl. Nice pic, too! 8-)
  3. DUDE! That's a beauty, congratulations! 8-)
  4. Mizmo 3 1/2" Firefly: http://www.mizmo.com/smalljawscatalog.html In relatively open water, Gamakatsu 1/8 oz inserted jig head. Otherwise, T-rigged, weedless. 1/8 oz bullet weight, 3/0 Gamakatsu or XPoint Offset Worm hook. I think you will have much greater success with #4 or #6 line on spinning tackle. It really makes a difference. 8-)
  5. In low light, the Zara Spook and LC Pointer rule! Later in the morning and throughout the day, Fat Ika <12' of water, 3 1/2" tubes, GYCB Hula Grubs and Single Tail Grubs are great producers. Lizards on a split shot have woked for me, too. For big smallmouth and a deeper presentation, the 3/4 oz Ledgebuster Single Willow Blade spinnerbait is another suggestion. Good luck! 8-)
  6. G. Loomis GLX MBR844C matched to a Shimano Core 100MG or Chronarch CH50MG. 8-)
  7. Long Mike, Man, you have been a guy I have considered a friend for a number of years. Have you become so soured that you cannot even have a pleasant conversation? It was just three months ago that we were roomies and fished together for two days, yet now you have become a hardened, crusty old fart! Wassup with dat?
  8. Really... I guess we will agree to disagree. I have fished most lines over the years, but for the past 4 years, Yo-Zuri Hybrid and Hybrid Ultra Soft have treated me well. I'm still searching, but I haven't found it yet... p.s. I like Sunline Shooter Defier quite a bit, but $40 for 330 yards is kinda pricy: http://www.***.com/descpageLNESUNLINE-SLSD.html 8-)
  9. I say keep all your legal limit if you like, but the 2-3 lb bass are the perfect size for a nice fillet. 8-)
  10. Hmm... I suspect most of the "old farts" have already had a cup of coffee and a couple of cigaretts by 4:30... In this neighborhood, it's my job to get the birds up! 8-)
  11. x2 - I think Fireline appeals to a lot of people because it's the only superline they've ever tried, but if they were to try Power Pro (or Sufix) they'd realize how crappy Fireline really is. What I can't stand is that the stuff frays like wow. Yeah I just said that. Berkley holds claim to a lot of "The Worst Line" categories. Then, after selling crap for several years, it's reintroduced as "New and Improved". Burn me once, shame on you. Burn me twice, Shame on me. p.s. IronSilk was another, but it appears to have been discontinued. :
  12. Welcome aboard! I don't think you will find anyone here disparaging Stick Marsh/ Farm 13. 8-)
  13. No, I used to think the same thing about the BPS Spring Sale, but the truth is, both companies have sales ALL OF THE TIME. The best thing to do is drop buy, watch for their catalogs or browse their internet website. Whatever you are looking for will probably be on sale sometime during the year. p.s. Unadvertised, in store only items pop up and can surprise you. I don't know that dropping by actually saves money overall (that monkey is tricky), but it can save you money on particular merchandise. 8-)
  14. Original formula Yo-Zuri Hybrid #4 (.009" diameter, 8.5 lb test) is my suggestion. 8-)
  15. Tubes are always the ticket, year around! Jigs may be, too. If you're more interested in "catching" rather than just "fishing", live shiners on a split shot rig will generally produce both numbers and size. 8-)
  16. Welcome aboard! 8-)
  17. Welcome aboard! 8-)
  18. Fish structure, not cover. Lure/ bait suggestions: Fat Ika; GYCB 5" Single Tail Grub (clear with silver flakes and/or smoke); GYCB Hula Grub; 3 1/2" tube; Rapala X-Rap, Husky Jerk or LC Pointer 100; 3/4 oz. Ledgebuster Single Willow Blade Spinnerbait; Zara Spook or LC Sammy. If you decide to fish live bait, shiners on a split shot rig rule! I recommend using #6 Gamakatsu Octopus Circle Hooks, light line on spinning equipment, and a reel with a drag you can trust. 8-)
  19. Welcome aboard! This might help: http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1158577137 8-)
  20. Posted here a few weeks ago... :
  21. The SR705R is on sale at Cabela's http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/links/link.jsp?id=0037314120919a&type=product&cmCat=SEARCH&returnPage=search-results1.jsp&QueryText=sr705r&N=4887&Ntk=Products&Ntx=mode+matchall&Nty=1&Ntt=sr705r&noImage=0 8-)
  22. Not neccessarily, but I prefer 3 1/2" http://www.mizmo.com/smalljawscatalog.html 8-)
