  1. The Fat Ika has a different profile and action than a Senko, which makes it another alternative to be fished exactly in situations where you might fish the stickbait. Otherwise, I fish both lures with the same cast and retrieve. 8-)
  2. Here are some more comments from a prior thread: http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1187794805 8-)
  3. If you decide to buy a "dedicated" reel, a gear ratio of 5.0:1 would be a much better choice. 8-)
  4. Well, on the Tennessee River the smallmouth spawn from late January until mid March or more generally, "around February!" The water temperature is either side of 50 degress, 46-48 in the winter this year. So, I'm not convinced that "water temperature" is the deciding factor anywhere, but it isn't on this river, for sure! 8-)
  5. The only time Senkos don't work is when the water is frozen! Other lures may be a better choice at times, but the Senko produces fish, period! Some people think it makes fishing for bass too easy, well... To be more specific, I fish the 6" Senko weightless and weedless in water <12' deep, but that's not a rule, it's just me. I fish all soft plastics on spinning tackle, 7' Medium Power/ Fast Action and Yo-Zuri Hybrid Ultra Soft #6. 8-)
  6. ;D ;D ;D CONGRATULATIONS! ;D ;D ;D 8-)
  7. I agree with Fish Chris. If hanging coyotes really works, it will work just as well 100 yards inside the fence and out of sight! That goes for deer on the hood of your truck, too. The vast majority of "non-hunters" just don't care about YOU hunting. So, being neutral really puts them on our side. There is absolutely no reason to insult or prejudice our "friends", let alone provide ammunition to the enemy! I hate the "in-your-face" attitude that does nothing for our cause. >
  8. Well buddy, You certainly caught up with the big boys in style. Great fish, fantastic pics, especially that second one! 8-)
  9. Well, here's my take: If someone posts a picture and says they weighed the fish, then that's the weight... "Nice Fish!", or make no comment and move on to another thread. Now, if someone posts a question, "How much do you think this weighed?", game on! These are not "rules", just suggestions. 8-)
  10. http://www.in-fisherman.com/magazine/articles/if2806_HookRemoval/index.html 8-)
  11. In the Falcon thread it was mentioned that Carolina rigging often results in deep gut hooks which tends to increase mortality. Although deeply imbedded hooks can usually be recovered, that is not always the case. It might be implied that some tournament fisherman are not willing to take the required time and care to successfully address the problem. Obviously, at this last B.A.S.S. event, caring for bass was not a high priority or was terribly neglected.
  12. A 4/0 EWG Offset Worm hook fits most of my single hook rigs. 8-)
  13. Not me. I will fish in the rain, but it's not something I wish for. Slipper decks can hurt and slick rod handles can be expensive. : 8-)
  14. Welcome aboard! 8-)
  15. I suspect you might change your mind for a few hundred thousand dollars!
  16. ** Moderator Note ** Okay, enough of this silliness...Let's move on... This thread is closed.
  17. Catt, I'm good with Clunn, his stats speak for themselves. The reason I think so highly of the Lindners is their multi-species skills. It seems they are at the top of their game whether they fish for sturgeon, muskie, salmon, smallmouth bass, green trout or any other species! It's not just their "catchin' skills" either. Finding fish and explaining to the rest what we should be focusing on is something else. Then they share their "secrets" with us, or at least some of them! I guess what I admire is the "whole package" and that's why I answered Al Lindner. 8-)
  18. Shimano CTE200GT 5.0:1 Although this is a smooth, compact reel, it is strong enough to fish for any and all freshwater species. I have two which I use for a variety of purposes, but it is ideally suited for deep cranking. 8-)
  19. Welcome aboard! 8-)
  20. Some combination of the following: 1. Paper tournaments only, by length not weight. 2. Weigh-in (release) sites located around the lake with mandatory weighing everytime those sites are passed by participants. 3. Oxygen injected live wells. 4. Forbid C-rig technique in tournaments. 5. Reduced bag limits for specific lakes or conditions (hot weather). 6. Require a boat for holding and releasing bass away from shore. More ideas?
  21. Well, monofilament, copolymer or fluorocarbon lines are alternatives without the same issues. The tendency for "digging in" is just one of the many reasons I don't fish braid. 8-)
  22. Thank you Lane! 8-)
  23. It sounds like you are using braid and your line diameter is too thin. The problem has nothing to do with the Revo and will disappear with a larger diameter line. 8-)
