  1. Well, I jumped on board and bought a few packs of different sizes which I fished this year. I don't find any advantage with tungsten and I will not be buying anymore.

    Duh? :
  3. Well guys, if you have an open seat, I'd like to chase some of those 11+ lb smallmouth with you! The fishing on my end of Kentucky Lake has been tough in 2007. For the most part, TVA has been very stingy with water release on the weekends. I sure hope the drought comes to an end and we get back to a more normal schedule. When do you all consider the best time for "spring" fishing? On the river portion of the lake, below Pickwickwick Dam, January and February are our best months for smallmouth.
  4. WOW! Now that's a post! On behalf of all of us enjoying the cold rain, sleet and heavy snow, we extend our condolences. : Merry Christmas! 8-)
  5. No chance here. I have been looking forward to this event, but heavy cloud cover prevented this part of the country from viewing the shower.
  6. So that's what happened? ;D ;D 8-)
  7. Probably about the same change that occurred at 12:00 PM 1999...Nothing but merriment! (This year's Cabernet Savignons will be ready to serve). :
  8. St. Croix Avid for $100 ($140-$170 MSRP) or St. Croix Legend Elite$204 ($340 MSRP). I recently bought an AC70MM and an EC70MHF at these prices (free delivery, too!).
  9. That fat girl hasn't missed many meals! 8-)
  10. Avids were on sale at Reed's for around $100. With a little patience I'm sure you can find one, too. I would recommend an AS68MXF.
  11. I have both the domestic Chronarch and the Metanium Scorpion Bantam MG. You would be VERY happy with either, but I would still recommend the CH50MG: http://fish.shimano.com/catalog/fish/products/group_detail.jsp?FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374302036639&ASSORTMENT%3C%3East_id=1408474395181270&bmUID=1197684599370

  13. Cheverolet power steering is (was) tight, Ford much more "responsive". This is a characteristic of the company and built that way by design. By the same token, Shimano "designs" a slight play in the handle to protect the reel.
  14. Hmm... After thinking about it a moment, you have to be right. You couldn't know about a zero year until you have #1.
  15. I'm a James A. Michener fan. My favorites include: Centennial, Hawaii and Poland. For lighter reading, John Grisham. Another area of particular interest was a series by Robert Ardrey beginning with "The Hunting Hypothesis". For a number of years before his death, Ardrey and Donald Johanson (the paleoanthropologist who discovered Lucy) wrote several books back and forth attacking each other's theory. I enjoyed these books immensely. Carl Sagan (Comos and later, Contact) is another. For Civil War buffs, "The March" by E.L. Doctorow is a must read. This is not so much a war novel, but a story of the people struggling through the times. I found it fascinating. Southerners might find it more interesting , but it wasn't written just for Rebels.
  16. There's a place down the street from our cabin that serves Blue Moon in frosty 16oz mugs, with a fresh slice of orange, for only $2.25! That's cheaper than a bottle of domestic most places. "Almost domestic": Brewed by BMBC, Toronto, Canada. Imported (distributed) by Blue Moon Brewing Company, Golden, Colorado. http://www.bluemoonbrewingcompany.com/
  17. That would be me...
  18. To clarify: NOT the very beginning, but the Year 0 as in 2,008 years ago. So, 365.25 days x 2,008 years = 733,422 days By my calculations, 1 million days is 2737.85 years. Think of that in terms of "trillion YEAR" segments as used in the article. A trillion = 1000 X 1 billion; 1 billion = 1000 X 1 million. I guess my point is, just 1 million days is quite awhile in human terms. When you then consider millions of years, you stretch the imagination. Then billions, then trillions...Multiplying by trillions and then trillions again, the numbers are meaningless to mere mortals!
  19. Try these: http://www.roboworm.com/zsframe.htm I have some of every color, but it doesn't seem to matter.

  21. This is the reel I would recommend: http://fish.shimano.com/catalog/fish/products/group_detail.jsp?FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374302036639&ASSORTMENT%3C%3East_id=1408474395181270&bmUID=1197646894079 Everyone that has the Chronarch CH50MG loves 'em!
  22. Here you go: http://bassresource.com/fish_biology/about.html#fish Take a look at "Fishing Articles" on the top of the page. BassResource.com has built an extensive library.
