"Action" is not something to look for in a drop shot bait. The biggest mistake guys make fishing this technique is over working the bait, any bait. You move the bait by dragging the weight 6"-12" and let it sit. There is no "hop". Specifically, the Flat Worm looks like a dead or dying minnow. Bass don't strike the bait, they simply suck it in. If you feel a nibble (short, quick tugs) it's a bream not a bass. I use a Gamakatsu Octopus Circle Hook mostly to reduce gut hooks. With the circle hook you lift your rod and reel quickly, NEVER a Bill Dance hook set.

Well, a split shot rig might meet the criteria. If I'm going with a swivel and beads I want more size and generally use an egg weight.
