  1. Some guys (me) think visibility is an issue, but there are a couple of others: abrasion resistance and the ability to break-off when you need to.
  2. No. 4/0 is gigantic. Get #6 or #8 Hook sizes are odd: /0 get bigger, standards get smaller, i.e. #6 is smaller than #4; 6/0 is MUCH BIGGER than 4/0
  3. My guess is they never actually fished the Octopus Circle Hook. Once you are hooked up you will rarely lose a fish. Even when a big brown fish jumps she can't throw the hook. <-<-<-<-------
  4. That makes sense. I drift them on the Tennessee River and my suggestion closes their mouth so they don't drown. Definitely not required in a still water situation.
  5. No. Hook minnows from the bottom jaw up through the pallet, but avoid the head (brain). The circle hook holds the bait securely.
  6. Traditional bobber will be fine, but get one that's cooler than red & white. https://www.dickssportinggoods.com/p/thill-americas-classic-oval-shape-float-20linu12pncl512spter/20linu12pncl512spter
  7. It's 42* here today. Burrrrrrrr!
  8. I use them exclusively with live bait. You DO NOT set the hook, it drives itself into the fish's mouth. If swallowed, the hook slides up the gullet...it's magic!
  9. And switch to a Gamakatsu Octopus Circle Hook #4 or #6. You DO NOT set the hook, you simply lift your rod and reel. 95% of the time the hook will lodge in the side of the mouth. No more gut-hooked fish!
  10. Okay, got it. We do things a little differently down here. Our pet fish still like to eat and play during the holidays.
  11. What does that mean?
  12. If it ain't perfect, it ain't good enough.
  13. Punchin has not visited the site in over a year.
  14. Add two small, silver spinner blades.
  15. Little George https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/catpage-BLDICETSPN.html?from=basres
  16. I caught my Personal Best at Toho January 5, 2020 fishing a 6" minnow under a balloon.
  17. Purdy!
  18. No C&R for spots. Every legal fish is kept and given to someone that will eat it. The limit is 5, but there is no size requirement. Some of your lakes (Lay Lake?) have been nearly ruined by the infestation of Kentucky bass. I don't think there should be any limit on these fish.
