  1. I don't know, a lot of colors work for me. The last year or so PBJ has been killer! Lately it's been Alabama Craw (Thank you Mike Siebert).
  2. Fast or extra fast is fine for single hooks.
  3. Slow reel (5.0:1) for big and deep diving crankbaits; 6 something for squarebills and small to medium weight lures.
  4. Congratulations!
  5. 702 probably means 7' (70), Medium Light Power (2) 663 is probably 6'6" (66), Medium Power (3) To determine the Action gently bend the rod at the tip. Fast Action will bend in the upper 25% of the rod.
  6. My leader is about 6" beyond the tip of the rod and down to 6" above the reel.
  7. I don't fish that side of the state, but if I do this is where I'm going: http://www.wrcbtv.com/story/28105648/pending-state-record-bass-caught-on-chickamauga-lake .
  8. I have the original Stella 1000FA mounted on a custom build by DVT. The smaller reel is a perfect match!
  9. http://www.opticsplanet.com/pinnacle-fishing-perfecta-dhc7-rods.html Limited supply
  10. Below Pickwick Dam, technically Kentucky Lake. You could almost count on a 5lb smallmouth in mid October through the middle of March. For the best largemouth in the region, Guntersville is a lock!
  11. You know, I wouldn't mind seeing the Flea Market divided into buying and selling forums, or maybe even buying/selling forums based on what one is looking for. For example, I'm actively looking for a new rod of a certain type and length. Scrolling through all the titles is becoming a bit tedious. Josh Really? Today we have had a whopping 2 new posts. More generally, 10 would be HUGE! Regarding "Other Species"...This is a BASS Forum. This is a section to occasionally talk about other fish and I love me some stripes! I don't think we are going there, but all suggestions will always be considered. -Kent
  12. Well, my very best days are putting guys on their new PB! Just a couple of years ago I scored twelve in one season. I don't claim to be the best fisherman in Tennessee, but that's kick'n azz. So, if you are new and your goal is a 5lb+ smallmouth, we are going to do it my way. I won't just help, I will quit fishing if that's what it takes. You can use my gear, I will rig you up and demonstrate EXACTLY what I want you to do. No competition here with me, we are going to fish as partners.
  13. Nice fish... CONGRATULATIONS!
  14. Left the site several years ago.
  15. Here ya go! http://www.bassresource.com/seasonal-fishing-articles/
  16. I guess we can agree that they are both "fish".
  17. "Megabass Pop Max is a great top water bait. It's a little pricey so he might appreciate a bait he wouldn't spend his own money on. I know I was skeptical with $20+ baits so went with the top water and am happy I did. I've caught a lot of bass on them and only lost one in two years." Never lost one.
  18. Hmm... Very few similarities between striper and bass. Striper are almost exclusively "open water" fish that aggressively hunt their prey.
  19. The Panther Martin is killer for numbers (black/ chartruse dots & gold blade). For bigger trout, Rapala Countdown and X-Rap.
  20. The best fishing in the Mid South is below Pickwick Dam fishing live bait on a 3-way rig. #2 is trolling the Alabama Rig. Finding the fish is a no-brainer below the dam, so lets focus on open water. First and foremost, look for birds feeding. When stripers are active there are always flocks of gulls looking for an easy meal. The bigger stripes can be shallow or deep, but generally fishing near the bottom is golden! On my rig I have LFT Live Magic Shad on the outside arms, 3/0 Offset Worm hooks and no weight. For the interior arm I use a Johnson Silver Minnow with no trailer. Here is a review of the rod & reel: http://www.bassresource.com/fishing_lures/DHC7-761-CAHFS-primmus-review.html .
