  2. "Most of our better quality stuff is labeled from China anyway" What are a few examples?
  3. Well, that's fine, but if someone wants advice on equipment I don't think "just any old thing will do". Give us a pricing point and our guys will suggest their favorite gear in your range. The best gear will not make a bad fisherman good, but it can make a good fisherman better. Whether higher priced equipment improves your "catching" is debatable, but it certainly makes the "fishing" more fun!
  4. 7' Medium Power/ Fast Action is a very versatile rod.
  5. Our members can help you out here. These are a couple of examples: Just for the sake of argument, let's say G. Loomis is the standard. St. Croix Avid and Legend Elite Medium = Loomis Medium Heavy, MH = H. Both Okuma and Pinnacle are more in line with G. Loomis.
  6. Man, I just can't get there...I would rather get hung-up and break-off than bring either of those species into the boat. We do catch some monsters down here. The biggest freshwater fish I have ever landed was caught fishing jerkbaits off a sheer cliff late one evening on Bull Shoals. I thought it was the next World Record walleye...not.
  7. Rage Toad...no issues.
  8. Norman Fat Boy (red ear) Rapala DT6 (Demon) MegaStrike StrikeBack Spinnerbait (white w/ double willow blades) Siebert Outdoors Cosmic Double Willow
  9. The rod is matched with a Curado 50E and does VERY well with 1/8 ounce hair jigs.
  10. Here is a review of the Helios: http://www.bassresource.com/fishing_lures/tournament-rod-reel-okuma.html
  11. I have the Ultimate Senko Rod: G.Loomis GLX BCR 893 that I would sell for $275 TYD.
  12. It probably sounds odd to our northern members, but here in the Mid South smallmouth season really gets underway in late September or mid October depending on the weather. Needless to say, we're excited! By far my favorite technique is fishing jerkbaits, but this year I have some new "secret weapons" custom built by CJ for Kentucky Lake. I will be posting an in-depth review after an outing or two. Another "new to me" will be the 6th Sense Crush Flat 75X which was a Christmas present from AJ. Other go-to lures for me are the Rage Tail Menace on a Siebert Swim Jig, MegaStrike MegaTube Craw and MegaBug on the ShakE2 Pro Series. I would like to have better success with artificials, but after my buddies land the first ten smallmouth I will be joining them drifting minnows on a split shot rig with a Gamakatsu Circle Hook. This is a proven winner.
  13. I like monofilament main line for treble hooks. Light braid with a fluorocarbon leader for small spool spinning gear. Yo-Zuri Hybrid #4 or #6 as mainline for 2500 series spinning reels. Either braid mainline with a fluoro leader or fluorocarbon mainline for single hooks (jigs & soft plastics). Specifically Tatsu #15 or #20.
  14. The owner and some of his friends have spammed the website after numerous "conversations". They are gone now and the company is persona non grata around here. Let's move on.

  16. Try #12 Hybrid, not the Ultra Soft, and see what you think. Most guys like it, some don't. The line is not expensive at MSRP, but is often on sale.
  17. Take your choice, Sammy or Spook.
  18. The CTE100GT and CTE200GT come up for sale in our Flea Market occasionally. These are my choices!
  19. #1 use to be the T-rig, but now that is a distant 3rd. 1. Jika Rig 2. ShakE2 Pro Series 3. Texas Rig 4. Carolina Rig 5. Split Shot
