  1. We fished the first four hours with artificials exclusively. Pete caught the first largemouth on a jerkbait, I think. I hooked up with a 4-5 lb smallmouth using a Chatterbait with a Rage Stucture Bug trailer. We then caught a few on a Silver Buddy and Siebert Outdoors Swim Jig/ Rage Tail Menace trailer. Around 1:00 we switched to live minnows and proceeded to whack a variety of fish, all the usual suspects and five or six brown fish. Pete had a devastating stike, but his line broke. The big "fish" landed was ~10lb drum; for smallies maybe 4lbs+. The fishing was tough due to a STRONG north wind. We quit around 3:00.
  2. Palomar for most single hoks 16-20 (also known as a Duncan or Pitzen Knot) for lures San Diego Jam for braid Alberto Knot to join braid to fluoro
  3. Welcome aboard!
  4. Pete and I had a big time, but the wind was challenging!
  5. The Siebert Swim Jig has been very effective for me this year. I prefer no weed guard.
  6. This and the MegaStrike Jig Craw are my primary shakey head baits. The orientation on the Kut Tail makes no difference.

  8. Nice fish!
  9. I'm going with Pete K tomorrow and will report back. Let me know if you would like to take me out with you and I will be glad to show you what we have had some luck with over the years.
  10. Very nice review. I think St. Croix's reputation is built on the Avid. At the pricing point this series is a great value.
  11. WOW! What a day!
  12. Drifting down the Tennessee River with the colors of fall. Primetime for my favorite fish and perhaps a new World Record! http://www.bassresource.com/fishing/smallmouth_record.html
  13. Hmm... I think the AVC70MM is perfect for all medium weight crankbaits and especially square bills.
  14. I love the Rage Craw as a trailer on traditional jigs, but prefer the Menace and Shellcracker for swim jigs.
  15. That is an old saying, but VERY true!
  16. Here is a suggestion that applies to both colors and different lures: Test new stuff when the bite is hot.
  17. The TVA is planning to draw the down another 3' and keep it there for the next two years while repairs are being made on the dam. http://www.tva.gov/sites/pickwick.htm
  18. #1 Carolina rigged bait. Also used as a trailer for swim jigs and the new Rage Blade.
  19. Sometimes color can be critical, but most of the time your favorite color will work just fine.
  20. Especially on ledges here in the Mid South.
  21. Hmm... Just because it's easy for you does not make it easy for me. I have some other skills that many people might find challenging. I don't think the ability to tear down a reel and put it back together determines whether or not we are "doomed as a people".
  22. Hmm... My handle on a Scorpion was loose which requires removing two little bitty screws and then tightening a little nut. This exceeded my capabilities as one of those little burgers jumped out and ran away!
