  1. I have been VERY impressed with TUF-LINE Tournament 8. http://www.tuf-line.com/products_TUF-Lines_26.html
  2. The importance of spelling, punctuation, complete sentences and paragraphs is overrated... Anyhow, I would suggest 3/8 oz. Siebert Outdoors Dredge Arky Jig. Black, black & blue and PB&J. You can buy your trailers on the same order with Siebert: Rage Tail Craw black w/ blue flakes and PB&J. http://www.siebertoutdoors.com/Dredge-Arky-Jig-110.htm?productId=87
  3. How much did that cost?
  4. Fished a local pond and caught my pet monster on the first cast, a smaller fish a little later. Both fish were caught on a white Chatterbait with a white Rage Tail Structure Bug trailer. I doubt there will be another opportunity this week with the storm moving in.

  6. Welcome aboard!
  7. This comes up every month or so and this is my standard reply: George Welcome Let's get technical, as there are in fact reasons, not just some lame holdover from days past that put the handles where they are. What will move the fish during retrieval is placed to the strong hand! A baitcast is designed to be used as a winch, so it is the reel that retrieves the fish. Hence if you are right handed the handle is in your right hand. A spinning reel is designed to pick up unloaded or loose line, not retrieve the fish. Hence it is the rod that does the retrieval, so it is the rod that is in your strong hand. If you are right handed then the pole goes to the right hand.
  8. No need to apologize, these threads are always fun...for a little while. Let's take it up again in a few months, just like we always do. So with that, Goodnight Irene. -Kent a.k.a. roadwarrior Global Moderator
  9. That dog hunts!
  10. Well, I have shared my local "honey hole" with the guys on this forum and several have caught their Personal Best! I have caught the biggest bass in this pond and numerous 10 lbs bass, although I am 99% sure it is the same Walmart Girl. Two other guys that I know have caught, weighed and released the fish. However, another guy kept a DD pet of mine last year and I don't talk with him anymore. At any rate, I fish with a lot of big sticks on the Tennessee River and they take me to their "secret" spots all the time. I'm not going to specify waypoints, but I will give you the parameters. What I find to be the most important factors are current, depth and cover/ structure. Sometimes, like right now, specific lures come into play, usually "moving", bottom contact or live bait. Color is rarely a determining factor, but it is occasionally. It really helps fishing with retired guys that are on the water nearly every day!
  11. The finest line I have ever fished.
  12. Last night LSU played their hearts out, but came up short. A lot of coulda, woulda, shoulda and the results go the other way. Still, The Tide rocks...Roll Tide Roll... So, who do you like next Saturday? I'm rooting for the Cinderella story and State. MSU has never been ranked #1 and this game is probably the biggest in their long history. No doubt Saban and The Crimson Tide will bring their A Game...Go Bulldogs!
  13. Pinnacle Perfecta7 DHC7-761CAHFS Pinnacle Optimus OP10 XiHS http://www.pinnaclefishing.com/shop/p-139-optimus-xihs.aspx#page=page-1 Tuf-Line Heavy Core #50 I like a light rig and fish both 3 arms in Tennessee and 5 arms in Alabama. The outside arms are rigged with LFT Live Magic Shad on #3 Gamakatsu Offset Worm Hooks, no weight. On the inside arm, Johnson Silver Minnow.
  14. Yes, you should seek professional help! Watch the video, it might cure you: http://fish.shimano.com/content/sac-fish/en/home/products/fishing-reels/spinning/stella.html

  16. Another option that has been working for me is the MegaStrike MegaTube Craw. http://www.megastrike.com/#!megatubes/cctr
  17. Lakes, generally 1/4 oz. On rivers, 1/2 oz.
  18. For topwater, jerkbaits and crankbaits I prefer a lttle give and shock absortion. Monofilament is ideal for these applications. Sunline Super Natural is my preferred brand.
  19. Put in at the TVA campground ramp just below the dam. We fished both sides of the river down to the honky-tonk.
  20. Well, I suppose any reel can usually land a fish, but it's the "Fun Factor" that counts. I have been VERY impressed with a number of Pinnacle Reels as well as the Okuma Helious Air. Still, all of my "old" reels are Shimano. None were built in Korea and although I doubt God was involved in assembly, He probably keeps an eye on quality control. Strong, silent and reliant.
