  1. You might want to give these a try: http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/134962-1324-lbr-caught-on-a-watermelonsilver-belly-megastick/
  2. If you can go through one hole and out the next, that's fine. Otherwise, all the way around the spool, but it REALLY does not make a bit of difference.
  3. I will be fishing Grove Park Saturday morning. If you are in town, maybe I will see you there.
  4. "Does this dress make me look fat?"
  5. No snaps for me, I retie often and usally snip off a foot or so of the main line.
  6. My best friend and fishing buddy, Speedy Madewell, passed away last night. People grieve in different ways, but I choose not to be sad about his death, but instead celebrate his life. Speedy was a strong willed man, solid citzen, good husband and a great father to his children. His legacy is extended through his son and daughter and their four beautiful children. His wife Janie remains strong and serves as the matriarch in her extended family. So CHEERS for my friend. Speedy had a great run and I am proud to have known him. -Kent
  7. Reel Magic is nothing more than a silicone spray. It is not absorbed and washes off after one cast.
  8. You will probably have them next week.
  9. Here ya go: This was posted some time ago by 00 MOD. Fill your reel up with some cheap line you are using for backing. Tie on a 1/2 oz lead weight and cast that sucker out in a field as far as you can. With you reel releasing line, walk to the weight. You now have a measure of two maximum length casts. Cut the cheap line and dispose of it. Connect the braid at this point and fill your spool.
  10. Sweep your rod, reel down quickly and then lift your rod tip firmly. Constant pressure is the key, the fish will set the hooks, usually very deeply!
  11. Kietech Swing Impact Fat, Shadalicious and Berkly Hollow Belly. All smallmouth and every fish caught on the Hollow Belly: http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_123/bass-pickwick-lake-3-11.html
  12. Everything depends on what you are throwing and where you are fishing. For the traditional rig I prefer a 1/2 oz round weight. The other end of the spectrum is a lizard on spinning tackle, light line and 1/4 oz weight. For the heavier presentations I;m fishing a G.Loomis MBR844C/ CTE200GT/ #20 Tatsu. The lighter presentation is fished on a St. Croix LES70MF/ Stella 2500FE/ Tatsu #6.
  13. The traditional knot is the Arbor Knot http://www.animatedknots.com/arbor/index.php
  14. Well, I'm just guessing, but I suspect most guys signd up on a bass forum primarily target bass. I have never had a bucket fisherman "jazz" me, but I am just as friendly with them as with anyone else out on the water. I do hate it when they catch one of "my" fish and keep it, but bite my tongue and move on.

  16. Sounds like Trophy Countgry in Missouri...Good friends, good food and cold drinks!
  17. Yes, that will work just fine.
  18. Well, i think direct tie is probably fine, but I have pretty much decided to go with a fluorocrbon leader all of the time. One of the main reasons for me is to have the ability to break-off when I'm hung up, especially on the Tennessee River.

  20. Well, I understand your point, but I think you missed mine. I don't believe in multiple coincidence. The fact that three guys all catch DDs on one weekend trip together on Pickwick Reservior has a statistical probability approaching zero. This combined with other reports of DDs on The Rig suggest a completely different scenario.

  22. It's not just Florida, we have lot's of members fishing this junk and bragging about it, too. $2 reels with $20 shipping, $1.99 for "just as good" as Megabass or Lucky Craft. You don't always get the best bang for your buck on the high end, but you rarely get any bang at the very bottom of the barrel. Now I love sales and bargins as much as the next guy, but I don't waste money on the next lure that is "about to be banned for tournament fishing" or immitation lures.
  23. You got me there! I am SURE you are right, but here is a very specific story that I was personally involved with. I was at Pickwick last year with the local BPS Fishing Department Manager, another BPS assistant and a well known local. None of these guys had EVER caught a DD, but this particular weekend all three got one, weighed and pictured, on the A Rig! Pretty impressive I think. Still, I am sure some of the other reports are "estimated weights" and we all know what that means.
  24. Spinning tackle: finesse Weightless soft plastics for example. Baitcasting gear: power Most "moving" lures, jigs and weighted soft plastics.
