  1. Sour grapes from a home-boy? There are less than a dozen "NFL quality" quarterbacks in the league right now, the other twenty are just filler.
  2. Nope. The bass are concentrated on ledges.
  3. For enthusiasts, technique specific gear is fun to collect. However, three rigs cover all the basics: #1 6 1/2' or 7' MH baitcaster for jigs, some soft plastics and spinnerbaits #2 6 1/2' or 7' MM baitcaster for treble hook lures #3 7' MF spinning rod for lighter lures and a variety of techniques
  4. I would try to hook-up with Glenn. He knows everybody! He will be interviewings pros, tackle designers and the movers- shakers industry wide. You will meet a lot of our sponsors, too.
  5. Hmm... Were any of you guys watching football in 2011? Tebow Time ring a bell? You did not have to be a Broncos fan to be a part of the excitment Tim brought to the league. The guy flat out brings it to the game, 100%, 100% of the time. He is a great athelet with tremendous work ethic, but perhaps more importantly, Tim Tebow is a solid citizen and an inspiration for many. Whatever his role with the Patriots, Tim will give it his very best. I wish him all the luck in the world. Congratulations to the owners, coaches and fans, this will be a great addition to your team!
  6. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
  7. Well, the other side of the story is a conversation I had with Big O at Kentucky Lake. Although color isn't the most important factor, the "right color" can make good fishing better. And there are times when just one color IS the ticket! My suggestion is to experiment with color when you are already on a good bite. I feel the same way about testing new lures and baits. Without a "control" to measure your success, you cannot tell what's good or bad.
  8. You might find a gently used CTE200GT in your price range.
  9. Congratulations! You have qualified for an invitation to the BassResource RoadTrip 2014. Hope to see you there!
  10. Sounds like the perfect day for jerkbaits!
  11. Perhaps the colored center is a hard plastic causing all of the energy to be transferred to either end rather than being diffused in the middle. So, rather than bending, the ends tend to flutter downwards when the bait is worked by the angler and upwards when the bait is in free-fall.
  12. "Best Of" BassResource.com in the top portion of the this section, "General".
  13. I'm a big fan of the Pinnacle Perfecta DHC5-701 CAMCB and St. Croix AVC70MM . The Pinnacle is split grip, the Avid is not.
  14. Both NorthStar and Seibert Jigs are hand tied and are built with premium components. Although the finish on both brands is "state of the art", they will still chip. The easy solution is touching them up with nail polish. I have a number of colors that are always on sale at the Dollar Store or other discounters.
  15. You are entitled to your opinion, but your statemrnt is pretty harsh. The majority of fishermen, especially on this website, would choose Shimano over the PQ by a large margin. I have 19 combinations. One is saddled with an Abu Garcia STX and another with a Pinnacle Optimus, the other 17 are Shimano.
  16. Observations and Conversations With Big O Mr. Parks is the only "Monster Bass" fisherman I have personally met or fished with. So, here are a few of things I think you all might find interesting: 1. Goal: Catch the biggest fish on any body of water. 2. Tackle: Multiple rods, but they are ALL the same! 3. Keen sense of "where" the bass should be. 4. No hard baits. As far as I can tell, Big O only fishes Rage Tail baits which he has designed for specific applications and depths. He does not make his own jigs, but currently fishes Mike's Seibert Outdoors. Hooks are from Moaner. Weights are both brass and tungsten. 5. Technical presentation that is precise. 6. Professional boat management which includes a COMPLETE understanding of electronics.
  17. Kinks are especially damaging to fluorocarbon lines. Fluoro is a crystal which will "crack".
  18. van·ish (vnsh) intr.v. van·ished, van·ish·ing, van·ish·es 1. a. To pass out of sight, especially quickly; disappear. See Synonyms at disappear. b. To pass out of existence. 2. Mathematics To become zero. Used of a function or variable.
  19. The Avid AVC66MF is my dedicated jerkbait rod. I would have it replaced by St. Croix.
  20. The brand is tainted. Their rods have not lived up to the hype nor stood the test of time.
  21. Are you rigging this on a 1 oz Shak e2?
  22. I have bought a number of rods over the past several years from members on our Flea Market. For around $125 you might be able to pick up a G.Loomis IMX MBR 844C. This is a fine "all around" rod and over time may become a dedicated tool for jigs and weighted soft plastics. This is a rod you will never out grow.
  23. +/- 40 lbs? That is a great striper. Freshwater or salt?
