  1. You are confusing me. Structure and cover can be shallow or deep. The shallow you can usually see, the deep you can't. Fish what you can see to start out.
  2. No... Must have had an accident or something. ALL Rage products are shipped in a protective shell.
  3. No.. Improved Cinch Knot http://www.animatedknots.com/improvedclinch/index.php
  4. Points, rip rap on dams and any cover or structure. What you are missing is deep spots that cannot be seen on the surface.
  5. Well, that works fine when you have experience, but that doesn't address the question. However, I LOVE your response! Those are some sensitive fingers you have.
  6. A well balanced combination will feel almost weightless regardless of the actual weight.
  7. I would NEVER consider adjusting my drag. Set it correctly and have confidence in your setting.
  8. 5 The knot is pretty small. To my knowledge I have NEVER had a knot failure.

  10. No, but check you lure/ line before casting. I'm always picking something off or adjusting the bait.Checking the rig is just part of the process.
  11. Slightly different, you don't go through the bottom of the knot. http://www.animatedk...imatedknots.com p.s. I use the Jam for braided line.
  12. Well, 00 Mod fishes a Pinnacle rod he swears by, but I don't know the exact model. I'm sure he will respond later. He is using the Stradic CI4 on the rod. J Francho fishes a Pinnacle reel that he likes. Maybe he will respond, too. I don't really have a suggestion, my stuff doesn't fit the parameters.
  13. Hmm... Last weekend I lost a lot, but the low point was three on three casts. The Tennessee River rocks love jigs!
  14. I would fish a double fluke with a 3-way swivel. The top line should be 12-14" without weight. The lower bait, 2' with a split shot up-line 6" or so.
  15. Nice fish! Our water temperature is 78* - 79*, still ten degrees away from "fall".
  16. I'm surprised by the recommendations so far. I do not own the D, but I have two Chronach 50mg, a Scorpion (super tuned) and both the 50 and 100 Core. I also have the Curado 50E and 200E (both super tuned). Among these reels, the "best value" are the Curados, the best reels are the Cores and the 50mg is my favorite!
  17. I believe the 16/20, also known as a Pitzen and Duncan knot, eliminates the problem. This knot is a "noose" without harsh pressure points. Try it for yourself: http://www.orlandooutfitters.com/knots/knot.asp?id=12
  18. Around here 5 lbs is considered a nice fish, brown or green. A "trophy" largemouth is still 10 or better; 6 is probably what most guys consider a prize smallmouth. Although a new State Record (14+) was reported on Pickwick, the largest weighed in tournament this year was 11.4 I think. My fishing partner, Speedy Madewell, caught the biggest smallmouth I have ever seen. I netted and weighed the monster: 10 lbs even! The fat fish in my avatar weighed just over 7. The other fish is my PB. It was about 4" longer than the Walmart girl, but only a pound heavier.
  19. Guaranteed To Catch Bass I just cant catch bass Learning to fish on your own
  20. Great review! NorthStar makes a great swim jig and hair jig, too!
  21. Nice fish, buddy! Speedy, Neal, Carroll and I fished below the dam on Saturday. We caught a few, but not nearly the day you had. Carroll caught a couple of good largemouth on a jig (PBJ). Later he had a 4-5 brown fish on, but it threw the hook. The water is still ten derees too warm, but the bite should get hot in another week or two. Hope to fish with you in October!
  22. Well, similar threads do come up every week, at least once a week! So, after a page or two they usually turn into "mine is better than yours", the thread turns nasty and gets locked. -Kent a.k.a. roadwarrior Global Moderator
  23. Mid-reange and upper-end Shimano reels will last a lifetime if you have them serviced periodically. DVT gives BR members a discount so your total cost for a cleaming and lube is $18 plus shipping. Parts are extra. I recently had two Curado's serviced, replaced bearings and brake pads, for around $50 apiece.
