Fishing After A Rain. Anything Special To Do?
This from a guy who fished through tornado warnings and 18" of rain...144 smallmouth and two PBs between three fishermen!

Reel Maintenance
I prefer having most new reels serviced before I fish them. I recently sent two of mine, a Curado 200E and a 50E, to http://www.delawarevalleytackle.com/ I think you will notice a significant improvement in performance from reels that are serviced annually. In addition to the standard clean & lube, I kicked it up a notch and had the bearings upgraded, although that was not really necessary. At any rate, the Curados think they are Core!

What Lures To Use On Each Rod
I use my spinning tackle for weightless and small soft plastics, live baits and a few small lures. Otherwise, I prefer baitcasting gear for everything else.

St. Croix Warranty And Service
I broke a rod in transport to the RoadTrip at Guntersville in April. The following week I contacted the Service Department at St. Croix to replace an original Legend Elite. The series has been updated at least three times since my old rod was built. My new rod is a LES70MF which cost $85 all in ($75 for replacement, $10 Fed Ex). There was a bit of delay simply because this rod is brand spanking new from the builders. So, yesterday it arrived! http://www.stcroixrods.com/product/freshwater-legend-elite

Our members are a very generous group and often help fellows out. However, to come here looking for a handout on your first post is inappropriate. This thread is closed. -Kent a.k.a. roadwarrior Global Moderator

Well, I don't often pay MSRP. Gently used stuff from our Flea Market should come in well under budget.

Apparently These Are Medium Sized.
Well, I know they were fun to catch, but they are really "small" for the species. Medium around here is considered 15 to 24 lbs. Most striper fishermen consider 25+ "big". The Tennessee River produces a ton of 30 lb+. The State Record is 65 lb 6 oz.

My Hat's Off To Big-O
Although I fish mostly Rage Craws (Baby Craw, Craw & Lobster), I STRONGLY recommend that you try the Rage Tail Lizard. I guarantee you will get more bites and your hook-up percentage will approach 100%. Don't get me wrong, if you read my posts you know I have been killin' um on both the Anaconda and Thumper. However, especially for numbers, nothing in the Rage Tail lineup beats the Lizard.

Do All Spinning Setup
Hmm... You already bought the gear, so why ask again? At any rate, no, I'm not jazzed about your choice. I would have started with a Symetre and #6 Yo-Zuri Hybrid. There are a number of rods that match up well within your price range, but whatever you bought from Walmart is not one of them.
