  1. Break a hook? Maybe "ever", but it would have been on a hang-up, NEVER on a fish. I fish a variety of different hooks and always give the highest quality newcomers a try. Mustad, Gamakatsu, VMC, Stroker, Trokar, Katsuage, X-Point and Owner all come to mind.
  2. New techniques are special and moving to mostly Rage Tail designs has been a big plus, too! I recently acquired a large selection of Bite It! baits and will be reviewng them after fishing and sharing them at Guntersville. Stay tuned!
  3. How 'bout that? Straight from the Hoss' mouth!
  4. We have a whole section dedicated to the Senko: http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/12401-senko-faq-%C2%A0look-here-first/ Good night Irene. -Kent a.k.a. roadwarrior Global Moderator
  5. I think it's their nature to move shallow, but that doesn't mean they spawn there.
  6. Next time I catch a notable stripe I'll change my avatar for awhile so we will all look like brothers!
  7. I don't think that's a carp. I believe it is a buffalo fish. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ictiobus

Last weekend we had a re-enactment of the Battle of Shiloh. 12,000 soldiers and 50,000 spectators. Perhaps the turning point in the Civil War. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Shiloh
  9. Rage Shad Snag Proof Frog
  10. The biggest issue is the water you are targeting. Unless there are big fish in the pond, lake or river, you can't catch any! Some places are known for bigger fish and these give you the best shot at a trophy. If you have a bait shop, Cabela's, BPS or other sporting goods store, talk with some of the guys that work there, they just might give you a lead. We are blessed here in the Mid South with lots of opportunity and a wide variety of species. However, even though quite a few double digits have been caught this year, you can't "expect" to catch one. Your best shot at a monster largemouth are in the Big Four States plus Mexico. What I think most locals want is just bigger bass than they are catching. Location is still the key, but using bigger baits may help.
  11. STOP IT....................PLEASE!.............I can't stand any more! You da MAN! Great pics, too!
  12. My observation on the Tennessee River is that bass tend to congragate on and near gravel beds, but they do not spawn there, the water level fluctuates too much. Rather than nesting in 1'-5' of water, I suspect the successful nests are in 5'-10'. I have never actually seen a nest on the river itself. The lures that are red hot right now are all "moving baits". Specifically: PopMax, Pointer & Vision110, Norman Fat Boy, LC Rick Clunn 3.5, Red Eyed Shad, small swim baits (Keitech Swing Impact Fat, Shadalicious and Hollow Belly) and, of course, The Rig. This weekend I will be adding the Rage Lizard and Swarming Hornet/ LFT Live Magic Shad to the mix.
  13. Yo-Zuri Hybrid #4 The line diameter is .009" with a breaking strength of 8.5 lbs
  14. Norman Fat Boy, Redear pattern LC Rick Clunn 3.5, yellow belly - purple back Red Eyed Shad, chrome & blue
  15. I keep coming back to this thread, I just can't seem to get enough of these pics. WOW!
  16. No, it generally gets much worse.
  17. Hollow Belley, Shadalicious and The Rig. Right now, jerkbaits are working for me, too!
  18. You would be surprised, it's REALLY FUN!
  19. Wassup? Could have sent this to rods & reels, but regardless...not "General" ____________________ And now the answer: Braid with a foot or so of fluoro leader. And forget about that finger thing...
  20. Too funny... Other guy's experience is a short cut for your success. Try everything in your tacklebox right now on the Tennessee River and you will catch a few fish, or take some advise and catch both numbers and size! The guys here share a lot of the where, what and why. There is no reason to reinvent the wheel.
