  1. Have done well fishing topwater, jerkbaits, the Swarming Hornet and jigs. That doesn't mean I won't be fishing minnows, but as long as the artificials are working, I will stick with them. 8-)

  3. Well, sometimes the fish want only moving lures. A few years ago at Guntersville the focus was lipless cranks (Rat-L-Trap type lures) and spinnerbaits. I fished a Senko in shallow water, too. The moving baits outfished the Senko 10:1. 8-)
  4. I would like to fish those lakes, too! Maybe sometime in March or April. Right now I want to spend as much toime as possible on the river. It's PRIMETIME for brown fish! 8-)
  5. If you are considering spinning tackle, three Avids are for sale in the Flea Market: AVS70MF and (2)AVS68MXF. Great rods and super deals! 8-)
  6. Post this in the Western Section, too. Maybe one of our members will invite you to fish with them. -Kent
  7. We're on the same team. My "old stuff" is brand new. 8-)
  8. No pooh-pooh! My fishin' time is too valuable and I appreciate innovation... I don't fish knock-offs. 8-)
  9. During a seminar, I talked with several of the pros about line preferences for various techniques. Frankly, I thought I was done with mono years ago. Wrong! For topwater and jerkbaits, it's monofilament almost exclusively. Fluorocarbon has a significant effect on topwater baits, dipping their heads in particular. Apparently, this effects jerkbaits as well. Although Yo-Zuri Hybrid floats and has some stretch, I bought some mono for both my topwater and jerkbait rigs. Those pros might know something. 8-)
  10. Woo-Hoo! After the season the Bronco's had, it's time for a complete makeover, starting at the top: ;D ;D
  11. Well now, the proof is in the pudding... The first time I met Big O he was fishing by himself on one of CJ's favorite spots. CJ "owns" Kentucky Lake. Big O out fished the two of us combined in terms of both size and numbers. Last year, at Pickwick during the flood, big O and two of our soldiers caught 140 bass, mostly smallmouth. Both soldiers boated their PBs that day. Head-to-head, Big O got my attention without ever saying a word. As a matter of fact, he didn't weigh his big smallmouth so as not to one-up the soldiers. No big deal, just another 6 1/2-7 lb brown fish! 8-)
  12. Man, those are some fine bass!
  13. Big O enlightened me at Kentucky Lake a few years ago: "You can do just fine fishing almost any color, but you will do MUCH better fishing the RIGHT color!" 8-)
  14. Well, I thought that was a given and we were talking about #2. ;D ;D
  15. You can find the Curado for $150 on ebay -One of the smoothest reels you can buy -Pretty good standard drag system -Variable Brake System is great! -Low profile....fits like a glove in my hand "Best Value" at the pricing point and easily found at $150 or less. 8-)
  16. The line choice is not particularly important for "moving" lures. Surprisingly, I use Yo-Zuri Hybrid #12. :
  17. Hmm... As I recall, fishing one spot was exactly how KVD won last year's Classic and subsequently, Angler Of The Year. :
  18. The original "tube" was a Gitzit. It was designed as a "do nothing" lure. The basic plan was to fish the bait when nothing was working! Cast the Gitzit or drop it straight down. Lean your "pole" against the side of the boat, grab a beer and light a smoke... This is how deadsticking was born. 8-)

  20. Three weeks ago we were killin' 'em on jerkbaits, but I haven't been back since. 8-)
  21. Green pumpkin is a great color, but not always the "best" color. You also need black with blue flakes and black with red flakes. 8-)
  22. Inserted weight, offset worm hook, ALWAYS weedless (Texposed or skin-hooked). 8-)
  23. The Magic Lure http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1141053342 8-)
