Smoke or Purple Smoke blend perfectly in stained water or more generally, anything except "gin clear". I use the Purple Smoke almost exclusively. 8-)

P-Line Floroclear is a coated line; Hybrid is bonded. I found Floroclear to be undependable.It broke a few times while casting and I quit using it. For stained water, green Ultra Soft will be just fine. The "clear" is milky. For Gin clear water, original green Hybrid matches best- nearly invisible! Technically, Ultra Soft breaking strength is about a pound less than original Hybrid. From a practical point of view, there is no difference. I fished P-Line for many years until I found Yo-Zuri Hybrid. I still consider the original Mossy Green an excellent line, but the memory is an issue, especially in colder weather. Recently I have been experimenting with Seaguar InvizX #8 for spinning tackle; AbrazX #12 for baitcasting. If you are looking for a pure fluorocarbon, these might be the ticket! 8-)

On a recent trip to Kentucky Lake with ghoti., we found smallmouth in 10-20' of water on sheer bluffs. The depth at river bottom may have been 100+, but the fish were holding tight to the wall closer to the top of the water column. The technique was casting to the waterline or into the wall and letting the bait fall on slack line. I caught fish on a MegaStrike prototype, similar to a Double Wide Beaver, and Rage Tail Baby Craw. Another technique that has been a big producer for me is the 3/4 oz Ledgebuster Single Willow Blade fished on deep humps and ledges. The presentation is lifting the spinnerbait off the bottom, then allowing it to fall on slack line. Fishing with CJ, the DD22 has been a producer in or around deep vegetation. Strikes generally occur when the lure catches on grass or runs into an obstruction. This presentation is a long cast and steady retrieve with an occasional twitch. At my local ponds, fishing from shore, the Anaconda and 3/4 oz GMAN Mop jig/ Rage Tail Lobster rule! Mattlures Baby Bass is a is another very effective option. Right now I'm focused on the Thumper, but have not fished it enough...yet. So far this year, the most productive search baits have been the Eeliminator and Rage Tail Lizard, C-rigged. If you are fishing from the back of the boat for "fun" or in a tournament, this is the best technique you can use. I think CJ won a boat just trolling a jig behind his partner, but the baits I suggest can be rigged so you won't get hung up too much. 8-)

No, it doesn't matter. Try the Kut Tail on a Shak-e2 jig, too! 8-)

I have found my senko alternative! I have not caught a fish on these yet, but... Geez... All knock-offs are alike...Fish the Original or fish the cheapest bait you think is "about" the same.

Ahh...I suspect the low profiles will hold up just fine. All I was suggesting with the CTE200GT is a precision instrument comparable to any high dollar reel. It's not fair to compare this with a $70 reel. I'm just saying you will like it...a lot! -Kent

Sounds to me like the CTE200GT would be the perfect reel for you. This is a reel you can fish for the rest of your life. I have several "favorite" reels and this is one of them, but it's the only reel I have two of. 8-)
