  1. not sure, but dang! the looks you'll get at the ramp!!!
  2. Because the blanks are different in fiber content, and they will differ.
  3. The Fury 735 will have a "tad" softer tip, along with a "tad" more moderate action than the Champion 735.
  4. called again, and talked to someone in sales. A man this time! The factory has been down since last Friday, and nothing has been shipped since. "Government" audit was supposed to happen in Feb., but it happened quicker than expected. Back open for business yesterday. They are running around a week behind & tells me everything ordered since the shutdown is in stock, and will be shipped. My order has not been processed yet. We'll see...???
  5. I buy Kalins in 100 pack bulks! LOVE grub fishing!
  6. Put my order in on the 11th (2 Patriarch XT's). got an email from them verifying order immediately. Have not received anything since. called them today, and women says reels were shipped, give it 7-10 days to receive, because they are on a factory audit. (why would it take Fed Ex 7-10 days, because of a factory "audit"???) she also said she had no tracking number for it from Fed Ex, because of the audit...??? Checked my credit card, and it has not been charged yet...???
  7. Probably not. I'm guessing that reel is well over 10 yrs old, probably more like 20, and baitcasters have come a loooooong way since. The braking systems on many now are soooooo much improved, making it a breeze to learn. I would go to Pfluegers website, and grab a Supreme XT for $59 (regular price is $149), with free shipping, and without breaking the bank, learn on that. It only has a simple centrifugal brakes, but it will be alot better than what you have there. I prefer a multi brake system, that uses magnetic & centrifugal braking. The Pflueger Patriarch & Patriarch XT uses that, and are also in clearance for $79 (regular price of $199) & $99 for the XT (regular price of $249).
  8. Wow! To get it replaced with a completely different brand rod is unheard of!
  9. I also own a pair of Avid X 6"9' MLXF's, and use a couple size 35 Patriarch XT's (7.2 oz) on them. They seemed to be a "tad" tip heavy, if you are using them "tip up" for presentations. So I use a light rubber butt cap to balance the combo.
  10. Opps! I guess I'm just reminding everyone! ?
  11. Pflueger's website is having a KILLER sale on some reels! Pfluger Patriarchs for $79.99 Patriarch XT's for $99.99!!! Supreme XT's for $59.99 All with free shipping for orders ove $50! ALSO! join their email, and they immediately send you a 10% off code to use! Ended up buying 2 Patriarch XT's for $192.11 total for both (after using 10% off code), including tax! http://www.pfluegerfishing.com/pflueger-clearance/
  12. I think with the popularity of throwing squarebills in shallow cover, the spinnerbait kinda took a backseat.
  13. tip #1: STAY OFF MAIN LAKE!!! tip #2: I'd pick a bay off Erie, I like fishing out of my Yak, in the bays of Presque Isle, Conneaut, and Ashtabula
  14. Silverthread Excalibur, in 10 & 12lb (for cranks & spinnerbaits, & pitching) , or Izorline XXX copolymer in 6 & 8 lb (for all plastics) been using Excalibur for around 25 years, and just started using Izorline XXX last year, with great results. I buy both in bulk spools.
  15. Bass Pro Shops Carbonlite 2.0, in a high ratio (maybe even 8.3) makes a great pitching reel.
  16. I have the 6’8” m-xf in the newer mojo model, and the tip on it is stiffer from the get-go than the mlxf on my Avid X’s. The 6’9” mlxf has that light tip, and goes into a more of a medium power than a ML power as it’s specs say.
  17. I'm running non-ethanol gas in my 4 stroke Suzuki, and only octane I can find is 90, so that's what it gets. Better 90 octane non-ethanol, than 87 with ethanol!
  18. wrong! Making sure it goes onto the reel the same way it's coming off the spool would be 100% fine, "IF", your reel spool diameter is EXACTLY the same diameter/size as the line spool diameter/size. If they are not the same size, you are creating MEGA twist to come and haunt you later!
  19. for spinning, you're doing nothing but asking for trouble! get one of these! https://www.ebay.com/itm/Ecooda-Spooling-Station-System-Fishing-Line-Winder-Reel-Spooler-Machine/162957516470?hash=item25f1065eb6:g:lVoAAOSwQVpasmDP:rk:7:pf:0
  20. do some online research, pick what "you" want, that's in your budget, and buy it!
  21. St Croix Avid X, 6'9" MLXF ? I own 2, and LOVE them! Use them for small wacky worms, ned rigs, drop shot, and just about any light plastic application.
  22. NICE! I owned a couple Alumacrafts, and LOVED them both! A new 1992 Phantom V170, and I sold my 2011 Competitor 175CS last spring. That 2XB hull is awesome!
  23. EVERY boat I have purchased, I paid cash.
