Yep! Erie, about 15 years ago. Drifting a 4" tube, a few miles East of the W's, in about 25 ft of water. Took a few pictures, and sent her back to her home! Actually, I put her in the livewell, intending on keeping her, but after thinking about it a little, I couldn't get myself to keep such a beautiful creature, and let her go. Bad part......Cell phone pictures were on, puked that year, and I never backed up my pictures......?

Mainly fish Lake Erie for smallies, so: Plastics: 3'-4" tubes 4"-5" grubs "secret" drop shot bait Hard baits: LC Pointer 100sp LC Staysee 90 Rapala DT
  4. usually 2 or 3 in my yak, and between 7-10 in my boat. Exactly! If I already know what the deal is on the lake.....PLENTY of multiples! Fishing for spring smallies on Erie, have PLENTY PLENTY of multiples!
  5. ^^^yep!^^^placing bent plastics in hot water for a while works, most of the time
  6. I use several different brands of spinning reels. Shimano Pflueger, & Daiwa. I like the deeper spools on these models, because of better line management and you still get a lightweight reel in these sizes. I own 2 Ci4+'s in the 3000 size, & 2 Daiwa Tatula LT's in the 4000 size. Also like the Pflueger Patriarch XT's. Have 2 of those in the 35 size. Also own 3 Okuma RTX 30's. GREAT reels for the money (I got them for under $50 each, new)
  7. ALSO, A jighead that is title as a "shakey head" usually has a longer shank on the hook than a a standard jighead of the same weight size. thus, a shakey head really doesn't make a good jighead, and a jighead doesn't really make a good shakey head BUT! I do use a shakey head for longer 5" grubs or swimbaits at times, because of the longer shank.
  8. my brother caught a 10lb+ bass on a double arm spinnerbait. He was "waking" it just under surface.
  9. I'd say 6lb. but if you are fortunate enough to fish places where huge numbers of smallmouth are 4lbs+, then that 6 doesn't seem as big of a deal, compared to catching a 10 lb largemouth. . I've probably caught 25+ smallmouth over 6 lbs., only becuase I fish one of the best places in the world for trophy smallmouth, Lake Erie. Biggest smallmouth was a 7lb 14 oz SLOTH! Only caught 3 largemouth over 10lbs, and all 3 were in Georgia.
  10. YEP! Good ole Fort Stewart! Metz pond! I think that is pond #26. it also goes by the name metz pond. it was back around year 2000 or so. i used to fly down to my brother's, who lives in Hinesville, and fish the Fort Stewart ponds. They were AWESOME back then! Can't tell ya how many 6+lb bass i caught in those ponds. Pond 4 was a TROPHY pond! They drained it a while back. Not sure why they did, but that's a shame. It was really brackish color. Doug Hannah (The bass professor) had an article in Bass Master back in the 90's about Ft Stewart ponds. he said he seen possible world record bass in Pond #4. My brother has 2 bass over 13lbs from Pond #4. I also like fishing a pond near there that has a HUGE tin man (20 ft+ tall) out in front of the place where it was. We called it the tin man pond. Caught a couple 10+lb'ers there. Great lake for 3lb'ers!
  11. I use a pair of Dobyns Fury 705CB's for mid depth cranks, but I go to a pair of Dobyns Fury 703C's for throwing squarebills around cover. The 703C still has some moderate action to it, with a little more power needed around cover, than the 705CB.
  12. come and fish up on the great Lakes! You'll have PLENTY enough reason to own medium power spinning rods!!! I have NEVER owned a medium heavy or heavy power spinning rod though. I only have L, ML, & M power spinnnig rods.
  13. 11lb 14 oz largemouth, small pond in Hinesville Georgia. 4" tube, with an 1/8 oz insert weighted jighead. 7lb 14oz smallmouth, Lake Erie, 4" tube on a 3/8 oz insert weighted jighead. guess I like my tubes!?
  14. I love the Super Copolymer XXX!!!?
  15. I currently own 13 Dobyns rods. 5 Champions, 1 Savvy, 5 Fury’s, and 2 Kadens.....love’em! Every one was bought on some type of sale, and most on some GREAT sales!
