  1. Musky: $250 - Daiwa Lexa 400 $380 - St Croix Legend Tournament "Big Nasty" Bass: $140 - Lews Tournament MB $120 - St Croix Mojo Bass
  2. I am so confused at this point. If it goes over would that mean at the end of a cast when the line level on the spool is low it would be putting quite a bit of pressure on the bar as you retrieve?
  3. But is it $120 better than the elite? That's the question, if you're answering based on full retail then your answer still stands.
  4. In a normal lake a fish that size would be less than 10 years old. It could be the growth was limited since it's in a pond with limited food. An interesting idea.
  5. Goes hand in hand. If two rods use the same components and one is assembled in the US it will cost more than the one assembled by people making 10 cents an hour. You do pay a bit more for a USA rod of the same quality as other options, something some people are willing to do and others arent.
  6. People know. Most dont care and all else equal will buy the cheaper product made using cheaper labor. So if 99% of the parts and labor is US and 1% is china youre going to call that made in china? The rods arent "contaminated" by using pieces from other countries. Some is better than none in my opinion. Ill stick with buying rods from the factory store in park falls.
  7. We'll have to settle for using the original 20 oz tranx 500 instead ?
  8. Never said it was easy! There's plenty more to trolling than just driving around and drinking beer. Well I guess there doesn't have to be if that's what you enjoy ?. But I know you're not that type anyways!
  9. I'm not sure if I'm allowed to say it on this site, but your best option for finding suspended fish in open water may involve planer boards...
  10. Everything's open here so far. They really should shut down some boat launches like the most popular up in Green Bay which has been packed and is an out-of-state destination. I likely won't be in the boat at all until all is clear since I rarely fish alone. However, I have been on the trout streams this year and it's perfect for fishing alone or with a friend keeping their distance. EDIT: as @gimruis mentioned they already closed some ramps. I heard the fox river is packed and will probably be the next to shut down (hopefully).
  11. I've caught smallmouth, walleye, pike, and even a musky on a #6 rippin rap
  12. MH/M rod with 30 lb braid to a 10lb mono leader. Leader is there mostly for abrasion resistance if I get in rocks, or if I get snagged I can break it off without losing any braid.
  13. Shimano Calcutta Conquest 400 would be a hell of a musky reel.
  14. Tough enough to get the DNR to come around. There can be other factors impacting fish stocking and seasons as well. Its a mess with the guys who are convinced musky are eating all their walleye and rich lake home owners trying to keep people off "their" lakes combining to stop musky stocking in certain areas of the state.
  15. I fished a research lake in northern WI the last weekend in april once since its open year round. It snowed and was 40°.
  16. According to the new 2020-2021 regulations, you can now target bass year round in Wisconsin beginning April 1st 2020. Limited harvest season still exists and varies by location. Formerly the season was closed entirely from early March until the first Saturday in May. Good news!
  17. I say they theyre in the weeds or weedlines. I think "grass" is a southern thing (or maybe eveywhere but the northern states). To me weeds can encompass coontail, cabbage, milfoil, grass, you name it.
  18. Same as the price of a new Stradic in my opinion. Not sure any repair would be able to hold up. See if you can get the whole reel replaced by Shimano.
  19. Interesting, ive considered doing something similar. Are you fishing from the banks or do you have waders? Im getting waders and think ill be able to free many more snags being able to go in after them instead of only changing which direction i pull.
  20. I dont really fish largemouth but i can tell I have a different arsenal than most who do. I have no use for the 7' MH/F casting rod that everyone says is universal. I dont fish in heavy cover at all so ive got a M/F casting rod plus a ceanking rod. Otherwise i fish everything on spinning gear ML or M. All my gear does double duty for smallies or walleye and both tend to require baits less than 1/2 oz.
  21. Not surprised there isn't too much familiarity with center console boats here let alone a specific model, which is why everyone's throwing out some suggestions. There are likely other forums out there that can give you better feedback about a boat like that. You're looking for a boat to troll the great lakes that drafts shallow, bit of an oxymoron if you ask me. Good luck on your search.
  22. If you had a 1/2 and 3/4 oz of the same bait then I think you'd be onto something, but im going to chalk this one up to the fact they liked the action/sound of the wameku shad better than the redeye shad for whatever reason. Too many variables even if the wameku has "the body of a 1/2 oz".
  23. Do you need more than 21' length? Must be a reason you seem to have ruled out a big fiberglass multispecies boat from ranger/lund/skeeter. Check out warrior boats. Popular with walleye guys trolling big water. Theyve got a dealer in new york.
  24. Looks nice and hope it works out for you, but since when is 1/8-1/2 oz considered "ultralight"?
