  1. ya but like i say any small company,, rat l trap rods are made by castaway ,quest rods still have no clue BUT i garentee ya not many companys that make lures, line, weights have a factory to make rods They can buy anything from any BIG name manufacturer and say its theres there is no patent on graphite alone .if u take JUST a blank from each manufacturer and hold it side by side NOT many can tell the diff in a falcon blank or a loomis or a fenwick
  2. LOL i dont use all of it maybe only 4 rods and reels per trip on the boat anyhow when im pond fishing i carry a baitcaster and a spinning setup i have about 4 gran in lures rods reels line terminal stuff etc 20 yrs of collecting abu reels nothing old but a lot of early 90,s stuff,,,,,BTW WB
  3. Can you document this assertation? What rods and reels do you actually own and use, that you can make such comparassions? I do not say this impolitley , I just always talk about what I use, so do many others here. I have no opion on Loomis, because Inever used one. I use falcons, shimanos, rapalas, uglystiks, lightning rods, quest rods My freind has a mossyback identical to my rapala same graphite scrim work and guides, threads the only diff i see is the cork the rap cork seems to be smoother and lighter color .I have about 30 abus a few pinnicles and a few rapalas and 2 or 3 zebco,s i have owned shimanos and diawias when i was younger
  4. dam yall done figured out my secrets now > I sit and wonder soemtimes will i ever use all my lures i bought over the last 12 yrs on clearance from walmart, k-martt ,SA ,Dicks, etc i have 10 large rubbermaid contianers FILLED to the brim along with a few med size boxes BUT i still findmyself each time i go places like that lookin for them 50 cent to 1 dollar deals>the baitmonkey dont descriminate based on price for sure
  5. thanks yall looks salvagable though a new spool and sideplate all thats needed,if he takes it back thats cool but id like to see what ABU says and if they send him new parts ASAP without a cost to him !!!!!
  6. Wow shows u how much i buy spooks i got about 13 that i bought back in the early 90,s
  7. Add them to your hooks also a spook is way too easy to shake, but be careful u dont want ur hooks to touch they will tangle when u cast ocassionally.I put a size 2 in the middle and a 4 in the back with rings and they dont touch
  8. I wanna see pics ...blowing a spool is when the sides explode out some big spools of mono will explode on the plastic spool u buy from the store even i have even seen filler spools cracked
  9. I looked cant find any 1 or even 2 inch ones i bet if he did make um they would be plenty soft just what im lookin for
  10. Who makes a 1 inch grub with a great action the slightest move will make um twist and turn ,I see plenty of small grubs with a round tail but i want a pointed one.i thought mister twister made um but i cant find any no where around here
  11. I think red has a lot to do with a base color i use white zeros with red hooks it stands out very good and i get way more strikes then when i use blued hooks, but if im using a dark color zero or lizard or w-e hook color dont mattter at all in my real life experiance red on white is great
  12. What kinda rod is that???
  13. Sure, just like metal is metal- no matter if it's lead, iron, stainless, titanium or gold, right, it's all the same? Didnt mean it that way the only way graphite is changed is who is doing the building of a rod its still graphite wether it is thin or thick ,,metal is a material as is graphite Beyond the "metal", blank design, taper, wall thickness, scrim and the actual manufacturing processes all play a significant part in the finished blank. One more thing- Loomis is no more expensive (relatively speaking) than it has always been- there are just way more other quality rods on the market now and since many of them are lesser priced, Loomis "looks" more expensive in comparison. The fact that you can buy a 'good' rod for less money, only means that you can buy a good rod for less money- it's independent of the Loomis... but eager to compare. If you don't want to buy a Loomis, don't. But if you don't buy one, how can you tell people that X or Y rods are just as good? I think it's funny that about 95% of Loomis users say they are a GREAT value and about 95% of non-loomis owners think they couldn't be that good. ...lol
  14. Ya what i was tryin to say it all comes in sheets i suppose its like pickin out the best colored tomatoes with no blemishes.and the sheets are sold to many diff companies for many diff reason aerospace, bikes, cars and such >Loomis might have pick of the litter since they been doing it a long time .I will agree a looomis rod is very light no dought bUt for me durability is more my style.I can still find a light rod and since i use 9.5 oz reels it aint hard .i can see having a 2 oz rod if u have a 6 oz reel very good sensitivty all in all what matters most is fish with what u feel comfy with to me thats a 12 or 13 oz rod and reel combo
  15. Still though graphite is graphite ,,Loomis dont have there own graphite pit it all comes from the same place.what matters most is who does the R and D to make graphite as light as possible im pretty sure who ever manufactures the machinery for rolling out blanks for one company most likely has a monopoly on it just like with tires all the tire BRANDS now days if each had there own factories.wouldnt we see more of them being built instead of housing projects.loomis is mass produced just like falcon, diawia, shimano, berkley etc etc.The way the economy is i could prob sell ice to a eskimo if i tell him this water has never been froze untill now
  16. Is it better then the first one???
  17. What about high speed oil on spool bearings
  18. There is a point to this there are only a few companies worldwide that make blanks >for instance i have a few Rapala rods the blanks look identical to a loomis mossyback same scrim and all same guide distance i measured it my buddy has the MB same weight even even the same color thread thats the same lenght also,,ok so what if loomis does make there own blanks if they sign a contract to make blanks for another company for 2 yrs and sell each blank for 20 bucks and said company is selling the rods for 50 bucks. That company can put any name on it as long as it dont say loomis and only have a 1 yr warrenty .Niether company is loosing anything
  19. cheap line doesn"t have much quality control thats why its cheap i bet if u measure the diamater of the line throughout the spool it will vary which is a set up for a line break.Having consistant line size is only part of having a perfect line if ur line says 10 pound test and you happen to tie to a bad part of line that is only 6 pound test your knot will fail OR ur line will just break for no reason .besides there aint much diff in price you can get trileneXT for 5 bucks and some change and ist very consistant and has never let me down .All in all your line is all thats between you and ur fish .Your reel can fail ur rod can break if u have good line u can still bring that fish in.Dont skimp on line its very important 8-)
  20. U dont want anything that can stick to dust ,sand etc on ur worm gear.you wont belive how much stuff comes off from casting and reeling that goes onto your worm shaft each time u cast.i use rem oil on mine and wipe any access away On a diff note if you but rocket fuel just on your pawl which is inclosed will it make a diff???? A certian color is supposed to stay where u put it im not familair with which one. red or yellow???
  21. I can do that with my clarus rod BUT i can tell if its empty or full bud light is nasty so i feel a lot of them as opposed to my fav coors light empties
  22. A 6 inch manns augertail in purple with a 3/0 RB owner hook and a 1/4oz bullet ,i can cut the worm down and use it as a grub or cut that part off and use it as a finesse worm TOP to Botttom yr round but i dont no about using it ice fishing LOL 8-)
