  1. Happy Father's Day everyone!
  2. Good news to hear Catt. Hang in there Catt, we're all wishing you the best.
  3. I like Culprit. I've used them for 35 years or so.
  4. Susky, yes sir he deserves your good care and the good life you've provided him. I am a fellow dog lover also, and, I wish there were more guys out there who are willing to adopt a dog as you have. Keep up the good work.
  5. One year ago, my hearing was tested. It was not real bad, but I did get hearing aids. Mine are the type that go into your ears, with a small plastic wire that loops over your ear. The actual hearing aid goes behind your ear. The aids are adjustable for volume level, by pushing a small tab located on the hearing aid. I attribute my hearing loss to the work I've done, as a carpenter. Running loud saws and power tools daily. I've struggled with them. It seems like there's no good adjustment. Things are either too loud or too soft. I'm going tomorrow afternoon to get ready tested, and hopefully get a different style or have them adjusted to work better. I've also realized that once you get hearing aids, there's no turning back. You'll probably need to wear them daily. It happens as we get older. If you have hearing aids, do you like them? And, are you happy with how they work?
  6. He's a handsome boy. Thank you for taking him in and giving him a good home.
  7. Glad to hear this news!
  8. We fished the lures I mentioned for a while, but at one point we discovered the Creme Scoundrel worm. We bought a three pack at a hardware store that had a small tackle section. At first we just nose hooked them. Later my brother learned about Texas rigging them, and we did that all the time.
  9. As a kid, my brother and I fished farm.ponds with lures that we borrowed from Dad and grampa. Lazy Ikes, Hula Popper, Bass Oreno were the ones we liked the most.
  10. Dislike: full size brush hogs. Green pumpkin color plastics. Dull hooks. Like: plastic worms, most any brand. Lightweight jigs, spooks and buzzbaits.
  11. Yes I carry a pocketknife. Mine is a Shrade three blade stockman.
  12. Praying and hoping for the best possible outcome.
  13. I always dress like a fisherman, an old one. Bob overalls, t shirt, and a good cap. Plenty of sunscreen on exposed areas. I like old school.
  14. I'm fishing clear water. Lighter line and a stealthy approach has paid off for me. I stay back a good distance to cast, and try to keep boat noise to a minimum. It's worked in the clear water I fish.

When I worked in the carpenters union, we were given some money each year to purchase work boots. The allotted money usually didn't cover the entire cost, but, was a big help in purchasing good quality boots. We were required to have steel toe boots. Most of the guys bought Red Wing boots. I had Red Wing, Wolverine, and Carhartt boots when they became available. Red Wings were always very durable, and with any of these brands you could expect to get one full year of wear. They were hot, and heavy. It always felt good to get them off at the end of the day. Eventually, I settled on Wolverines as my favourite. They seemed to have less break in time, and were more comfortable right out of the box when new. My days of wearing heavy steel toe boots are over, but I still like to have a pair of soft toe boots on hand for various things. Two questions for you guys: Do you have a favourite brand of work boots that's given you good wear? And question two: Has anyone tried the boots made by Keen? The Keen boots look good, made with good leather, and get good reviews.
  16. Hoping A-Jay can help you here. He trains a lot of dogs, and is good at it. I might say reward him with a treat if he lets go of the ball. But this may be wrong, as he might expect a treat each time.
  17. A-Jay, I enjoyed that video. Our dogs are smaller, but burn across the yard with the same enthusiasm. Two of our dogs will fetch the ball, and return with it. Our younger one is still learning the fetch deal. He likes to get the ball, then run around the yard trying to to get the others to chase him. While he's busy doing that, the others have already brought the ball back and are ready for another throw. It's all good.
  18. We have three dogs at our house. One dachshund and two dachshund terrier mix. They love they're toys. I've stopped buying cheaper squeak toys for them. When I get them, they quickly chew them so much the squeaker gets destroyed. Playing fetch in the yard, I've found some harder rubber balls that work good. I've also recently got some ropes about 12" long. They seem to like them also. Also picked up a hand held ball launcher, to throw tennis balls for them. When we all go out in the yard to play fetch, they never get tired of it. The further I can launch a ball the more they like it. Last night I threw balls for them until it was too dark to see. It's good exercise for the dogs. What types of toys does your dog like the most?

The Creme Scoundrel plastic worm is legendary. I still use them. I've also caught many crappies on the small Creme tubes.
  20. I've been using Mepps #3 Black Fury yellow dot for the past couple of seasons. They're a great overlooked bass lure. Try different depths and reel them in just fast enough to feel the spinner turning.
  21. For me, in my clear water my local bait is a 4" or 6" plastic worm. It's been the most consistent bass catcher for several years here. I rig them on a light t rig, Slider head, or Shakey head.
  22. Plastic worm on a light t rig. Buzzbaits and Zara Spook.
  23. I fish with a friend who raises crawlers. He uses a jig or split shot rig, and hooks them once with a circle hook. He's caught some good fish with them , slowly fishing them on the bottom. At times, he has to change spots, because small bluegills will hit them too much. Around my area, crawlers are the #1 bait that's sold here. Minnows dominate for crappie in the spring but crawlers are very popular all season.
  24. Charlie Brewer Slider 3" paddle tail grub. They make a 4" size also. Many good colors available. Cost is around 4.20 for a ten pack.
  25. As a kid, we ate bass. I haven't eaten one in many years. My favourites now are crappie, bluegill, and walleye when I can get them.
