  1. Hello, I am interested in a potential Casting MH Mod Cranking rod and Spinning M to ML Fast (drop shot/Ned/weightless texas rig) rod. I have no idea where this starts but just wanted to compare other custom rods to that of an "off the shelf rod". I currently have 1 custom rod and love the quality for a similar price. If you are willing and want to maybe pick up a job PM me and maybe we can work something out. Would love pictures! Thanks
  2. Sorry it's the gantarel jr. so 1.5 oz and 5". I do not have the rod with me. Its rating is something like heavy and rated for 2 oz lures- I do not know the taper but I think its fast (I know not the best but do not want to invest $$$ into something for 1 lure that I currently have). If I like swimbait fishing and get a bite or two I can see myself investing in a rod. As for the reel, whatever I need I should be able to use I just thought capacity was the big issue. I have a few Revo winches or the Curado K that I would probable use.
  3. I am going to be throwing my gantarels soon and do not want to lose any. I have a lot of pike in my lake as well and do not want a toothy critter taking it from me. (My lake has no snags as weeds are the main structure) Just not sure between 30-50lb braid and heavier fluorocarbon (not sure what test) Give me your thoughts?
  4. I think they have slowly went downhill in regards to fishing deals (Spring classic and days of xmas are the only big deals). But they do carry a lot of tackle if you ever need it. Mainly I go there is to burn gift cards or have a nice meal. I do have to say they do great stuff for kids too!
  5. That's the depth I plan on targeting. Too me- that's deep.
  6. Dicks has another decent buy 3 get 1 free sale with 15% on top of that for strike king and keitech. I am debating jumping now or waiting for Black Friday.
  7. Just use what you need for your application- it varies so much. I just switched and tungsten feels so much better IMO. My order went through OMGFishingsinkers due to price and I was very happy with what I got. I will reorder
  8. Thanks. I may try a regular blade on the Jr. See how that looks- This big boy bait is a bit much for my waters and I have not caught one on it yet.
  9. I am so intrigued right now!!!
  10. I have- I just feel that cranking will be much more efficient and let me cover more water as there is minimal Hot targets- just a lot of weeds. I hope my current crank setup will suffice- Nothing special but a Revo Winch 5.4 spooled 10-12lb Yozuri Hybrid on an old 7' cranking stick M action Mod tip.
  11. I catch a ton of fish with a carolina rig down there- Its just weeds throughout. Lake gets down to 45 feet I mark fish 20' all day just want another way to go get em. I would not be hitting much structure other than bottom and weeds.
  12. I am getting more into cranking and finding fish deeper. I usually fish weedy lakes and pound the shoreline- for the past 2 years I have been moving out deeper working weedlines and deeper structure. I want to keep moving out with the success that I have been having but have only a few cranks to get me there. I fish a clear lake with a silt bottom (bowl shaped) - I want to be able to target fish at various depths and was going to be buying several DT models to get me there. Main forage is bluegill/sunfish/crappie. Are the DT models the best for this? Does anyone recommend certain colors for certain depths? I usually use natural colors with the water clarity and in the sun do well with shiny baits- just not sure if light penetrates that well down at 14'. TIA
  13. I use the Shimano Blackmon backpack and love it. It is only 3650 boxes though.
  14. I was told about these a few months ago when I was asking about whopper plopper setups as the long casts loopy line once you get a weed. People swore by them on here- Said the keeper looks terrible but everyone who has one said they never lost anything. I went to buy some and everywhere was sold out of the size I wanted. I will be buying them.
  15. I was thinking about this reading another article. I would prefer to only focus on weed applications (no rock)- poison/ned/round or any other jighead. What are the pro's and con's of a jighead vs a pegged worm weight? Thanks

Either do I, but the slop I fish in I need that vertical line tie.
  17. Great suggestion As for casting distance: It took me some tweeking as well getting both breaks the way I wanted them. Finally getting it dialed in was very nice to see. An interesting thing that Shimano put in their pamphlet was to oil the breaks after every use (I thought this was a bit excessive) but I did have to also remove some oil from some of the reel as it was over oiled upon purchase.
  18. I've done it once or twice. Both were due to excessive usage near the lure and line digging into the spool to stop the big cast.
  19. What if you just want to remold your old plastics instead of wasting them all the time? I am just looking either for a senko mold or a big hammer tail swim bait. Is it worth it?
  20. Yeah, this warm weather will definitely bring them out! Thanks for the heads up. I am surprised to hear water temps that high.
  21. Hello, I am going to be fishing SW Michigan this week. I'm assuming the spawn is done but a few pics show they still may be a few beddding late. How far North are you guys?
  22. Thanks, So general rule of thumb is nylon = dry, cloth drag= lightly greased to dry, carbon= dry? TIA
  23. There is 1 old shimano 1 older bps I do not have models with me. How do you know if it can be or not?
  24. Anybody know where to pick some up? TW is back ordered and I cannot get anything shipped reasonably fast with this weekend fast approaching. They do not carry it at Bass Pro Shops. They do not carry it at a local DNR shop (they also told me to never grease my drag and greasing it would ruin it, to just wipe it with a cloth- I just let this go but may have to try it and see if it fixes it if I cannot find this grease to fix this issue)
