Braid gone bad?
40lb Power Pro Super Slick v2 that I have had on- Let me start off by saying I am frugal when it comes to line. I hardly ever change because usually it is fine. However, this past weekend I believe I experienced my first legit braid fishing line breakdown. I mean I lost 5 tungsten weights, hooks and baits before I realized it was the line and put the rod down... not happy with myself. Not turning the braid around because it is old I am fairly certain it was due to UV breakdown as there are no frays or anything within the line. But was wondering if anyone ever have that happen to them? Obviously, I tested the knot every time and have it some good tugs. Flipping/pitching the forces are probably a little greater. Anyone have a rule of thumb on when they replace braided line due to UV exposure?

Big worms yet?
Not to overtake the thread but what size hook do you use with your 10+ inch worms?

Palomar knot troubleshooting
Do you test your knot before throwing it out there? Hard to believe the knot didn't give way under your pressure but to the fish. I like to think I pull harder then the fish... On hooksets probably a different story depending on what I am doing.

Brass weights
I use them when I want the click but don't want to lose more money with Tungsten. Once I am out I may not buy more since there is some cheaper Tungsten out there now.

Illinois: Carlyle Lake IHSA State Championship
Hello all! I wanted to reach out to this forum as our bass fishing team has qualified for the state championship in Carlyle IL. We are looking for a place to potentially get a fishing boat from the area. Does anyone know of a marina or a location that rents bass boats? Thanks!!!

Bargain baits
rebel pop r in bone. Like $2 off the shelf at those big department stores. Caught 100's if not 1000 of fish (again hook quality not great). Update: Just googled the price of these things and they are up to $5? Wow I missed that price increase.

Flipping and pitching vs Punching?
A flipping rod usually has its first guide much higher on the rod so you are able to grab more line and pull it further too.

Mega Bass Jerkbaits .. Worth it?
Absolutely worth it IMO. I do try to avoid heavy rocks with these as I feel I do not break bills and dull hooks as quickly. Only 3 years into throwing them but have had great numbers on them and VERY excited to use the 110+1 JR this year!

Looking to match new Megabass Levante rod with a reel
Do you have a picture of it by any chance? TIA

Looking to match new Megabass Levante rod with a reel
I have seen that one too. The reason I was going with the Tatula/Vanford was for its weight. The simple black Tatula will match anything was what pushed it for the win but at $200 everywhere and backordered- I see no sales in sight!

Looking to match new Megabass Levante rod with a reel
EVERYTHING has been sold out for sooo long.... This is getting frustrating... I decided going for Tatula 3000 CXH and now I can't even find one of those on sale. I have less then a month until I "NEED" it. Any other suggestions out there?

Getting Line Twist Out
Obviously it is key to not get them in the first place when putting your line on and taking care of your presentations but after reading another thread I wanted to see if anyone else ever removes the twists in their lines from baitcasting or spinning gear once it gets bad? I will add I am cheap and try not replace my line every year. My dad taught me to have nothing on the end of the line and run it out in the water while the boat is driving. The resistance in the waters gives it a good tug and would pull the coils out to the very end to help with memory. I was not sure if anyone else does this or I am just crazy? Or if anyone else does something that is even crazier?!?!?

jerkbait fishing
Yes, I would also add that if your bait sits nose down the mono will pull it up slightly since it floats. I use both types of line but on different rods.

Organizing Tackle
At first glance I said why would anyone store their rods like that... Wow. What an Idiot. Then I realized I was the idiot...again

Scientific Bass Information
Love the thoughts of vegetation. I am seriously clueless... To the fact that I just say weeds... I would love to learn more but so many look the same. Do you (or anyone else) have any suggestions? Midwest weeds first

For the tackle storage, bags, utility box experts
I also went with the Blackmon and LOVE IT. Hands free down to the lake while jumping on their boat. Able to carry rods in one hand and do anything else with the other is very nice!

Baits you've given up on?
Fastach clip with barrel swivel has helped with this problem for me.

Shimano Round Reel
A reel is a reel. Different styles have pro's and con's. I would say a round reel in general will be heavier, hold more line, and is more rigid. Any reel can be a good bass reel. It just depends on what you plan to do with it and how you pair it with a rod and line. For me, I do not have one but if I did it might be on my swimbait rod.

Nose rigged fluke more stout dropshot hook (Casting rod)
I see-I was trying to make a joke about his texas rig love- I'm sorry if that came off rude. I didn't think he was drop shotting the fluke and I took it like the OP wanted to know the hook for a different application. Drop shot hook or Wide gap circle hook with a centering pin screw (CPS) screwed into the fluke and put on the hook usually no weight needed but can. Yes, the Texas rig will be more weedless but it may not catch more fish. I fish docks like this a lot and do quite well as it is a much different presentation that they see NON STOP and it can be quite weedless as there are now several weedless hooks out there to help with this. In the end it is just another tool/trick/modification to help catch fish. Found some pictures online to help show the set up (but don't tell anyone else) PS. you usually do not need anything to fix the pin the the hook- Just want to make sure it doesn't go back over the barb and fall off.

Nose rigged fluke more stout dropshot hook (Casting rod)
Nose hooking allows for more action and a different fall. Sometimes fish like different things... However, you can continue to fish your texas rigged fluke all day, every day and you will catch fish IMO. Not as many but it will work.
