  1. I made mine soon as it opened up...
  2. So you haven't abandoned us...
  3. Price out spare spools sometime... (shudders)
  4. I've almost got the F-9 ready for the water...re-routed the livewell plumbing today. Just have to mount 3 cleats, put the new MN-DNR stickers on the bow and the name on the stern....then load up for crappie season.
  5. Meanwhile down here - rain and lower 40s has started to uncover my back sidewalk.
  6. I asked that in a previous post about TactX - Glenn answered... The leader material used in TactX is very similar to Red Label Fluoro. So, it has great abrasion resistance and overall strength, but it is not a soft and supple as Gold Label Hope this helps
  7. Chris - best wishes for a full and speedy recovery to your wife. Maybe suggest shuffleboard.
  8. vinylidene fluoride resin https://sunlineamerica.com/blogs/news/fishing-with-fluorocarbon-why-use-fluorocarbon
  9. Check these guys out https://www.greatlakesskipper.com/oem-parts-and-accessories/ranger-boats?dropdown_gls_finish=1794&multi_gls_colors=1343
  10. ^ What Hammer said - I've pulled in 12# northern pike on 8# test. could be something on the rod too...nicked guide would do it. Locking down the drag is not something recommended...ever.
  11. That's one that I T-Rig on drop-shot, or bottom drag on a Gamy Finesse jig.
  12. I remember coming across a copperhead laying across the path sunning itself when bank fishing in Nebraska - since I'd handled snakes before, I was able to grab it and toss it off the path. My fishing partner wouldn't come within 10' until I did that. Worst part about copperheads - they're silent...no 'warning system'.
  13. Not unless I win the lottery.
  14. Ya - they're still hibernating here, but SE MN has Timber Rattlers.
  15. A good wading backpack should do the trick....like this one https://www.amazon.com/Rodeel-Fishing-Backpack-Resistant-Weatherproof/dp/B0872MTJ7Z?th=1 Two rod lash-points, plenty of storage. I have their 3600 size shoulder bag for shore fishing...it's well made and very rugged
  16. No, you push the eye and bent section into the head, then the hook in like a normal T-Rig...the lead sits below the head.
  17. SAC was in it's hey-day when I was there...and I worked in the HQ building where Generals were a dime-a-dozen...your right arm got a workout just going from your duty area to the exit.
  18. I actually requested Minot when I went in - along with other northern-tier bases. They stuck me in Omaha for my 4 years - I've been 'out' for almost 39 years.
  19. Top it off...I'm in a rewards program that gives a $0.10/gallon discount (up to 20 gallons) for every $100 spent per trip to my normal grocery store. I don't drive all that much, so usually I have a really good discount - right now my 'balance' is $0.90/gallon.
  20. Nose Hooked: Zoom Fluke Tail Goby (out of production, but I stocked up) Z-Man Slim SwimZ Z-Man TRD HogZ T-Rigged: Zoom 4" Lizard Zoom Baby Brush Hog Zoom Finesse Worm
  21. Once a year - just like my mono.
  22. Looks like a pintail on steroids.
  23. Even basic electronics is better than none. I ran a Lowrance Hook 2 4" for two years on my canoe before upgrading. Even just seeing bottom structure and depth will help locate potential spots.
  24. If you mean 8# - nope - go with 15# minimum. I've got two 20# anchors for my 14' so I can anchor stern and bow to lock my orientation as well as position. 50' Is plenty for small/shallow ponds. If you plan on fishing bigger lakes, get 100' right off the bat.
