  1. https://www.npr.org/2023/01/01/1146506030/anita-pointer-pointer-sisters-has-died She was the last of the trio that gained fame. Bonnie and June preceded her...Ruth left the quartet in 1977 making them a trio. They had such an energy...I can't think of one bad song by them and their videos were always fun and sexy.
  2. While some of Cotton Cordell's lures do have the name printed on them, the Red Fin, Wally Diver, Big O Crank and Pencil Popper don't.
  3. Haven't been to Rebecca - I'm limited in my range... and that's a bit outside it.
  4. Only one of those I've fished is Nokomis - and that was from shore back around 1985 - before I moved into my current place, I lived in Richfield.
  5. Don't know of any electric only lakes around here. Little Long has a 10hp limit, but that's it.
  6. Yep - a Cotton Cordell Red Fin in Chrome/Black Back https://www.cabelas.com/shop/en/cotton-cordell-cj9-jointed-red-fin
  7. That Fenwick is what I consider a MH based on the lure rating. Stick with the rods you got - you got it covered.
  8. He's gotta fish in SE MN, cause that's the only area with the Trout C&R open during that time. Though if he fished for Rainbows on iced over lakes, he'd be fine
  9. Ya - another one of those short 'special' seasons - I think it's 3 or 4 episodes. Having Tennant and Davies together again I think is ***'s way of trying to regenerate the series. Plus I think Gatwa has a commitment through next year, so it'd either be do something short for one season, or have it on hiatus for a full year. I really couldn't get into Jodi - never saw Broadchurch, so I can't compare. And where the "HE double hockey sticks" did Chibnall come up with the entire ret-con of the Doc's past? Personally - I think the whole Whittaker era should be written off as a bad dream and Peter be credited as the last 'real' Dr before the Tennant #14 era...short as it may be. This from someone who started watching during the Pertwee era.
  10. Shoot all of them you want - they're a bloody nuisance around here. There's a reason one of the names for a group of them is a 'Swarm'.
  11. I'm looking forward to Season 2 of SNW, and the return of David Tennant as Dr. Who.
  12. Gotta understand these southern boys - a thin film of ice on a puddle and they're crying cause it's the start of the next Ice Age. ?
  13. I target the crappie off-and-on through the season - gotta have something to put in the freezer.
  14. Ya - but at my age, my boney arse hurts after a bit of sitting on hard surfaces.
  15. Go Digitaka The Miravel has several of the technologies found on the Stradic and Vanford - I have a Miravel 2500 and it's a sweet reel. And free shipping means just that - the price you see listed is all you pay...and every reel I've ordered from Digitaka has been in my hands within 3 days.
  16. Don't feel bad - the local crappie 'pond' (Black Lake) is now the Township of Black Lake. A dozen to dozen-and-a-half 'permanent' ice-shantys are now up, and people are parking their cars next to their shanty...with the area near shore a virtual parking lot for the tent and open ice-fishers who are fishing in any open space they can find.
  17. Especially when you get rid of the plastic/wood seats and put something comfortable in place.
  18. Rods under $60? Daiwa Aird-X Until I started upgrading, the Aird-X rods were the ones I used. From a M/F for jerks and wacky to a H/F for frogs and flipping - they did it all. Even though I have Furys, Mojos, and Victorys in my lineup now - I still have two Aird-X rods that I'll use this coming season.
  19. I didn't use my thumb with my 'beast' this past year...just cradled it.
  20. Stick with the BG in 10# or 12# to start. Backlashing with braid is a pain in the rumpus - BG is more forgiving and at least cheaper to replace if you have to cut it out.
  21. How much drag did that monster pull before you got it in the net?
  22. Be a while before you see anything from me. Bass season here closes before the ice on the lakes disappears - and doesn't open until the middle of May. So 4-1/2 months before I get a chance to post something here.
  23. Crappie - the closest bass season has opened after ice out was 2018 when Ice-Out was declared on Minnetonka only 7 days before the season opened. On average, there's a month of targeting crappie, sunnies and perch before targeting bass is legal.
