Wife gives the best gifts - guided trip
They're close cousins and while Pike can get big, on average Muskys are bigger. State Records Northern Pike: 45# 12oz Purebred Musky: 54# 0oz All the pike I've caught or lost have been good fighters.

You could land on it - there's 4 'seaplane' bases on the lake.

Wife gives the best gifts - guided trip
Tonka's got quite a wide variety of fish in it. This is stated as a bass trip, but we might tag into some ESOX or Walleyes 2018, a guy pulled this 54" musky out of the lake. Some big northerns have also been caught And the walleye aren't bad either

Ya - while there are brown-bass in Tonka, they're few and far between.

In addition to the guided trip, the wife also added to my reel collection. This brings my arsenal additions this year to 7 new reels (5-BC, 2-Spin) and 5 new rods (4-BC, 1-Spin)

Wife gives the best gifts - guided trip
I'm planning on making sure my Vision-4 camera is working properly and filming the whole thing. External lapel mic, 256gb card, external battery good for 12 hours - long as everything is good, I should be set.

Wife gives the best gifts - guided trip
So the wife saved this one until this morning. She got me a 4-hour guided trip on Tonka for the middle of June While it IS my home lake, and I do fairly well on it - this is going to give me personalized details on when/where/how as well as some more detailed lure selections. How she scraped up the money for it, I don't know...but she did and I'm almost in shock here.

Warm weather for next weekend!
Ya, well my March re-spooling is just the crappie rigs. Bass season doesn't open here until the middle of May, so the bass rigs don't get re-spooled until the beginning of May.

Warm weather for next weekend!
Ya - our warm-up is only going to be in the mid to upper 30s...won't even affect the ice cover as it'll just re-freeze overnight. Reels have been stripped, there'll be some maintenance later. I don't expect to re-spool until sometime in March at the earliest.

^ What RW said Or if you want to stick with mono - Sufix Siege 8#. If your reel is a 2000-2500 size, I wouldn't go above 8# test, mono gets too unwieldy because of the memory.

If I post remotely - it's usually from my tablet...like a phone, but a larger 'keyboard'. Most times is from my desktop or net-book (like a laptop but smaller)- Winter is coming...
Should make him detail it too..- Winter 2022-23
If mine went out for long enough, I'd be digging in the camping box for my two stoves, the grill and the lantern. I'd set up those and the propane heater by the fireplace with a small battery-powered fan so the fumes go up the chimney. I've got a full 20# bottle for the heater and 8-1# bottles for the others. Can't actually have a fire - wife would suffer an asthma attack, otherwise I'd switch the propane heater for lighting up the fireplace,- What's your Heavy Pitching/Flipping/Punching rod setup??
