  1. First thing is to get the rod manufacturers to actually agree on a standard...one brand's MH/F is another brand's M/MF
  2. 'Chillin' out in the sun'...some days I wish I could do that.
  3. I got four of ones that are silver with black accents...kinda reverse, but could look neat that way. Course they're not being made anymore and probably a bit under what you're expecting...but they are pretty darn good reels.
  4. Clear nail polish - or a near matching color.
  5. We got rain going on too...mixed with the occasional snowflake...but rain is good Errand today - we've gained back what we lost along some of the shorelines...probably about a 6'-8' gap between the land and the ice in some spots. Channels are opening up - Black Lake channel and Narrows channel were both open. Ice all over is getting dark...that's a good sign too Maybe some crappie fishing in Narrows when it's not raining would be a good idea...at least wet a line for the first time since October.
  6. Now I'm confused - you can harvest the females of any other species (ya, you need a special license for does, but still) What makes turkey females so special?
  7. Ya - or pea-soup green from an algae bloom - one the few times I put a trailer on a spinner.
  8. Probably because they're trying to get rid of the 'invaders'. Browns aren't native to NA - they were imported from Europe...rainbows, cutthroats and brookies are native.
  9. Despite higher rates - stopped trying the others years ago and am loyal to AT&T. I've been places where my AT&T connects...and no one else can even get one bar.
  10. Not a gray area here - if you fish designated trout waters, even if you're not going after trout, you need the stamp. From the regs. "Except as noted, anglers need a Minnesota trout/salmon stamp validation and a fishing or sports license when fishing in designated trout streams, designated trout lakes, Lake Superior, or when possessing trout on waters that are not designated trout water." So ya - if you fish a lake or stream that's designated as 'trout waters', you need the stamp even if you're not targeting trout.
  11. Unfortunately, one of the lakes I like fishing for bass and panfish is a designated trout lake...so if I want to fish it, I need the stamp.
  12. I use swivels in three situations. C-Rig Donkey Rig Inline Spinner Otherwise, swivels are not on my line. These are what I use.
  13. Built a wall-mounted rack for mine out of some scrap lumber I had hanging around
  14. And true to form....it's snowing now.
  15. I'm waiting....let's start this sucker up
  16. Just remember - winter ain't over till it's over.
  17. Forget the wood stove - far too much chance of setting the shanty on fire. Go with one of these instead...indoor safe. https://www.lowes.com/pd/Mr-Heater-9000-BTU-Portable-Radiant-Propane-Heater/3353726 Uses either 1lb cans or can be hooked to a 20lb tank.
  18. Get another hobby - me...I work on the boat Best of the bunch IMO. Saw it in the theater when it first came out - got the VHS when it was released...wore the poor tape out. Now I got it on Blu-Ray.
  19. The shanty scenes were filmed on Lake Rebecca - which is WNW of Minneapolis. Lake-Link lists these fish as being present...so they really could have been after anything. "When fishing, anglers can expect to catch a variety of fish including Black Bullhead, Bluegill, Brown Bullhead, Channel Catfish, Green Sunfish, Largemouth Bass, Muskie, Northern Pike, Smallmouth Bass, Walleye, White Crappie, Yellow Bullhead, Yellow Perch, Pumpkinseed"
  20. Oh good - so in two days it'll be sale time (today's only the 2nd...just an FYI)
  21. What test braid are you tying it to - what techniques are you using this on. If I use a leader...don't always: H/F or MH/F casting - 40# or 50# braid to 15# FC MH Spinning 20# braid to 12# FC ML Spinning 10# braid to 6# FC
  22. That's just mean, Kent. If it looks like prey, they'll eat it - even if no real ones exist. Easiest way to find out if there are crayfish in that lake? Contact your DNR (or what ever your state calls them) or a local university's biology department.
