  1. That would have been put in my livewell for dinner. Nice catch, A-Jay
  2. Also check Facebook Marketplace (sold my old transom mount TM there) and Next Door.
  3. From the article you linked dated Jan 2013 "The private-label outboards from Honda will include 60, 75, 90, 115, 150, 200, 225 and 250 hp models," So it's just the larger outboards that are re-branded Hondas. From another article dated Dec 2017. "many of the smaller Mercury Outboards are just rebranded Tohatsu Engines. In addition, the entire line of Nissan outboards are rebranded Tohatsus. More recently Evinrude/Bombardier released a press release saying that they would be rebranding small Tohatsu engines for their line, and Tohatsu has begun using larger Honda outboards(60, 75, 90, 115, 150, 200, 225 and 250 hp models) to fill out their line-up." https://crateinc.com/history-tohatsu-outboards/ So they acknowledge the Honda link for the larger motors, but the smaller ones are Tohatsu manufactured.
  4. I don't use snap-swivels at all...even panfishing. Only time I even use swivels is donkey rig or Carolina rig.
  5. Except 30hp and under Mercs are made by Tohatsu of Japan https://www.tohatsumarine.co.jp/english/story/
  6. Buddy and I used M-80s and got some fish that way...that's about as close as I've come to this method of 'fishing'. For me...it's still the T-Rig. I may have to buckle down and just pound with it to get over this curse.
  7. Stringer or fish basket hung over the side?
  8. I'm a fan of lobster, mussels, clams - but the best sea-fish IMO is swordfish. Exactly.
  9. If they're big ones - or decent size crappie. Otherwise just scale them, gut them, cut off head and fins.
  10. For those who like deep-fried - sure. I don't like deep-fried anything.
  11. Similar to how I broil them Lay some tin-foil over the cooking grid and fire it up the charcoal/gas...let it heat up. Brush a little melted butter on, dash of salt and pepper...just a few minutes each side. For the broiler inside - lay the tin-foil on the broiler-pan...broil on High for 2-3 minutes a side for panfish...longer for thicker fillets.
  12. Meh Fire up the grill
  13. Wife got me a travel mug....love it
  14. Ya... I much prefer 'ambush predator' Bass aren't built for the long chase - they're like tigers in that respect. They'll wait at ambush points and leap out at prey that stray too close to the bass' hiding spot Pike and Muskie, on the other hand, are chase predators...like cheetahs. They will run down prey.
  15. No - I think there's close to half-a-dozen Menderchucks in Andy's area.
  16. You could always practice your lure-skipping technique before the ice is off.
  17. Go to an Echomap A UHD 63CV would give you down-scan and built in maps and not be much larger You would have to go to the 7" models to get side-scan.
  18. You got a pic of the transducer mounting?
  19. Not a lot more Striker 4cv - nominal .44amp, max 1.5amp Striker 7cv - nominal .55amp, max 1.5amp Per the manuals published on Garmin.com
  20. ClearView is Down-scan. Yes, it is nice - I have the Striker 7cv myself.
  21. I looked at the manual for the HDS-12 and it said 2amps draw - that would be 24ah for 12 hours of operation. The Garmin manuals have the 93SV pulling 1amp, the Livescope 2-4amps - so thats another 36-60AH for 12 hours there. I'd check the online manuals at the Garmin/Lowrance sites instead of Google. Their website says "The result of a pioneering partnership with a leading research university, we have built our own patented lithium production process." However, another site does say that they're made in China. My oops.
  22. Minnesota - it depends on the species Daily and possession (means what's in your freezer counts towards the limit) Crappie - 10 Sunfish - 20 Rock Bass - 30 White Bass - 30 Perch is special - 20 daily, 40 possession
  23. That's an AGM battery - Mighty Max only sells AGM, Gel and Lithium - black case is their AGM, blue is Gel, black/white/blue is Lithium. I'd still go through the calculation I posted above - 110ah might be a little overkill for a 'house' battery despite the amount of electronics you plan to run.
  24. Re: Mighty Max is available through Lowes and Home Depot - deliver to store as they don't keep all models in stock, but returns (if necessary) are to the local store.
  25. Any deep-cycle AGM or Lithium will work. In reading reviews, I'm going with Mighty Max for my AGMs, and will probably stay with them for the Lithium upgrade in the future. BPS sells Tracker Lithium batteries, made by ReLion, and they've gotten good reviews. But note that Mighty Max has been in business twice as long as ReLion. If you want USA made - Dakota Lithium is your daddy...almost everyone else, even Mighty Max based in New Jersey, gets their Lithium or the Cells or even the completed batteries from China. Dakota actually uses USA mined Lithium.
