  1. I go even further - to prevent sunburning the tops of my feet Hiking Sandals
  2. Closest poisonous snakes to me that we have in MN are timber rattlers down in the SE corner of the state---100 miles+ away. I still wear long pants though - my legs would look like a lobster's after cooking.
  3. From everything I've found - the Hook series is only 2D and Downscan compatible with the Motorguide Xi5 He'd have to upgrade to the Lowrance Elite to get Sidescan Or replace the Lowrance with a Garmin Echomap or Humminbird Helix Found this chart.
  4. I'd put the 6.3:1 on the MH/M rod - that's the ratio I use on my crankbait rig I'd also use that rig for the chatterbaits - realize that the published weight is JUST for the head. You have to add in the weight of the hook, blade and skirt to get the true weight. If you use a trailer, it gets even worse. For example - I actually weighed my 3/8oz Z-Man Original chatterbait with my standard trailer, a Berkley Pit Boss - total weight was well over 5/8oz. The 7.1 on the M/F rod would be better for poppers and jerks. Jigs on that rod are problematical - same issue with weight as with the chatterbaits. Even with 3/8oz jigs, I prefer a MH/F rod to handle them. Frogs...(rocks his hand back and forth)...it's doable on a medium power rod, but not ideal. I actually toss frogs on a H/F (12#-25# line, 3/8-1.5oz lures)
  5. As minimal an amount as you can get away with. Per Mike at DVT in another thread
  6. Just cleaning it should do the trick.
  7. You can always test the camera with a larger card. My three Dragon Touch cameras state 32gb...but I run 128gb cards in them no problem.
  8. Oh boy, is that a loaded question. Files from the camera card are saved to my 'D' drive. Individual files are loaded into VideoPad, merged and exported as a single vid for the entire trip, adjusting data rate to conserve space. The camera records at 3gb/18 minutes, my output is around 3gb/1hour Once confirmed that the merging worked properly, the individual files are deleted Now comes the 'hard part'. I run through the entire file and save off the clips I want to post, adjusting the audio level in that clip if needed. Once the clips I want are saved off - the full file is saved off to a Data Blu-Ray...just in case I want another clip at some future time...and the file is deleted. It's at this point that I also format the camera card.
  9. And a pair of long pliers...I carry these for just those cases.
  10. I remember coming past the Arcola Bridge on Tonka - it was early spring, the channel was open as well as a few dozen acres either side. Big tree near the bridge was 'housing' half a dozen Balds. One year, took the wife up to Bemidji for a week, stayed at Rutger's. One day trip was to the Chippewa National Forest...her mouth dropped and didn't close again for about an hour from all the Eagles flying around.
  11. Even the 'cheap' cameras have this. My Vision 3's can link to the GoAction app - I clip one camera to the topper lid on the truck and use it with my tablet as a backup camera at the ramp. My Vision 4 links to the LiveDV app
  12. Mom's been there for me forever - even though I'm 62, she's still there for me. Happy mother's day, mom Me, Mom, Tawnie & Sara (mine and the wife's fur-babies at the time), Darryl (Sister's fur-baby at the time) (Old pic - around 1997-98 - we lost Sara back in 2001 and my hair is still red here)
  13. A> Lithium - if you can hack the price - they're about 1/2 the weight of lead-acid. You can even get a single 24v battery instead of needing two batteries. B> If you're going 24v - there's no easy way of splitting off 12v for the electronics...you'd need a separate battery C> Dunno - I fish lakes, so a 45# TM is more than adequate for me. Example - my F-9 build. It's a 14' Alumacraft that I gutted the seats out of and am close to finishing it. Casting platform, rod locker, bow-mounted 45#TM, etc. I'll be running a 100ah battery for the TM and a separate 35ah battery for everything else.
  14. Just get an external battery - the one I have for the 'body cam' isn't sold anymore, but this is the equivalent....about 12 hours of power for my Dragon Touch Vision 4 https://www.amazon.com/Portable-10000mAh-External-Powerpack-Compatible/dp/B07VGHLRTQ/ref=sr_1_6?keywords=10000mah+cell+phone+external+battery+pack&qid=1651973565&sprefix=10000mah+external+%2Caps%2C159&sr=8-6
  15. Sounds like you had a fun time...
  16. Still moving along - starboard and port casting deck, rod locker cover, starboard rear storage cover. Need to cut/size the hatches in the casting deck and size the hatches for the storage cover. Floor, rod locker cover and hatch need one more coat of Varathane before I put on carpet. Livewell cover and tank cover/seat base still need to be cut out. Before I start securing deck pieces down, I need to finish filling holes, clean the inside section of the hull and paint.
  17. The ratings I posted were direct from the online manuals. Garmin: https://www8.garmin.com/manuals/webhelp/echomapuhd/EN-US/ECHOMAP_UHD_OM_EN-US.pdf Lowrance:https://softwaredownloads.navico.com/Lowrance/FTP/Lowrance_Software - Copy/Documents/HDS-Carbon_IM_EN_988-11265-002_w.pdf
  18. I use a 7'0" Medium/Fast rod (Dobyns Fury 703SF) with 8# InvizX line for weightless plastics of all types (flukes, weightless wacky, weightless T-Rigs, etc)
  19. BPS currently has the Garmin Echomap UHD 93sv on sale for $699. 9" downscan/sidescan, comes loaded with maps, and the QuickDraw software lets you make maps of lakes they haven't mapped yet. https://www.basspro.com/shop/en/garmin-echomap-uhd-93sv-fishfinderchartplotter-combo
  20. PETA believes it's assault - they want to ban even farming fish.
  21. Registration, maintenance...those as well. Actually - including the canoe and the F-9 - probably under $7k since I restarted fishing a few years back.
  22. For one - the rated voltages on those two units are... Garmin - 9v-18v Lowrance - 12v Exceeding the specified voltage can damage your unit - and warranty doesn't cover 'misuse'.
  23. I got a barter system with a neighbor. He doesn't have the parking space in his garage/yard for his utility trailer and Explorer (he's got 2 motorcycles and three other vehicles.) I provide him that space - he takes care of the mowing during spring/summer/fall and snowblows me out during the winter.
  24. I might even do that - put the Cardinal on the Daiwa...give me a 4th crappie rig.
