  1. I'm doing a gray theme Carpet is 'Slate' (sample pic from Menards web site) Hull paint is Rust Oleum Enamel - Charcoal Gray - Exterior: Upper chine to gunwale; Interior: Outboard frame supports to gunwale The vertical transitions in the cockpit (shown), rear deck-to-casting deck and casting deck-to-TM deck is Rust Oleum Ultra Cover (same I used on the canoe seats) in 'Stone Gray'
  2. @J Francho Since the only hole I drilled below the waterline was for the livewell fitting - which is a TH Marine item...I'm pretty sure it's safe. Also - a basic calculation of the equipment I'm putting in - I'll still have almost 200lbs of 'excess' capacity with a full gas tank, full livewell, loaded storage and me in it...so ya...it'll have no problem floating. Funny thing from Letterman though...thanks for the laugh, John.
  3. Well the Enforcer/500R combo was my only casting rig from about 1981 to 2015. My other two combos during that period were Plfueger 640/Daiwa 1312 (ML/F) - got this combo around 1974 Abu Cardinal 562/Ugly Stick (M/F) - another early 80s aquisition Still have all three reels and the Daiwa rod - the Enforcer and Ugly Stick I got rid of a few years back when I started my 'massive upgrading.
  4. Berkley Enforcer - Abu Ambassdeur 500R
  5. Just make sure it's a rod you don't care too much about.
  6. I hear all these horror stories and wonder what country they're in. I've never received a broken rod or crushed box in all the years I've been ordering online. I've even sent some 'delicate' items cross-country by all three - and everything arrived in perfect condition. USPS, UPS, FedEx - they've all done good by me
  7. Yep - the whole Cx-80 line. The only difference between them is the frame material CC - Carbon CR - Resin CG - Graphite CA - Aluminum
  8. I don't see the need for reels with that much top-end drag unless you're surf-fishing for salt-water stripers. I don't think I've ever set my drag above 8#-10# - and that's when punching into heavy cover with 50# braid...most times I'm set at 3#-5#. Added top-end drag really doesn't give you anything for bass fishing.

  10. That gives me good feelings for the CA-80 I picked up this winter for my pitching rig. It's basically the same reel, just an aluminum frame instead of carbon. Got it from Fleet Farm during a special they had - paid $60.
  11. SB side of the casting deck set aside for now...still have to cut the hatches in it. Remaining pieces from this sheet of plywood cut out, trimmed, sanded, and first coat of Varathane applied. Once the four coats (two each side) are dried, these will get carpeted Floor Rod locker cover and hatch I also finished painting the cockpit vertical pieces and installed them with 1" #8 truss head self-tapping sheet metal screws into part of the aluminum frame...truss heads are pan-heads with built-in washers...all one piece Only attached the fore and aft pieces - they hold in the port and starboard pieces. Also only screwed them in near the top as the floor will hold the bottom edges in position.
  12. Getting deck pieces cut out. One sheet of plywood can fit one side of the casting deck (already cut out of this piece) and two to three other pieces. 'Faint' lines to the left are the borders for the rod-locker cover. (Posted from my Galaxy A-51)
  13. But anything posted by Half-Dozen is good...right?
  14. I've had insurance claims with USPS for things I've shipped. Paid the insurance fee at shipment time - never had an issue getting it processed and my money.
  15. Did you pay for the insurance on the shipment?
  16. Ummm...ya, it does. ?
  17. I know I've answered in a similar thread that's more recent...but here goes. I practice 'selective harvest' - basically any 2#-3# LMB has a 50% chance of going into my freezer. The rest get put back in the water ASAP.
  18. Mocking up the TM support...this will give me measurements to cut the 1/8" aluminum angles and sheets for the final 'unit'. The front-end of the mount will actually rest on the bow-plate, so it will have full support. Shaft will be 2" from the center-nose of the plate...so lined up with the keel.
  19. Another option https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/catpage-QUANTMRODS.html?from=basres If you can nudge your upper end a little There's a closeout on the TFO Tactical 7'3" ML/F for $160 https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Temple_Fork_Outfitters_Tactical_Series_Casting_Rods/descpage-TFOTAC.html At $170 is the Quantum Smoke 7'0" ML/F https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Quantum_Smoke_S3_Casting_Rods/descpage-SCS3.html
  20. That vid was for the tournament held this past Saturday - 4/30 There's another crappie tournament on Tonka coming up this weekend - 5/7 Then bass season opens the following weekend and they take over - 16 tournaments this year.
  21. The number of tournaments held on Tonka is insane really - crappie, bass, pike muskie, walleye...every species has several tournaments through the year.
  22. Ya - if a study is done by the industry itself - forget the 'grain of salt'...I'd need a whole mine.
  23. They trying to match PF's number of brands under one banner?
