The Live Bait problem
Experience panfishing: With bobber and worm or chub minnow (live bait) - quite a few times I had to carefully use my needle-nose pliers to get the hook out cause it was deep. Light jigs under a bobber - rarely deep hooked Inline spinners - never deep hooked. So based on my history - live bait results in more gut hooking than artificial lures. I'm sure this can be translated to other species.

3700 co-angler bag
I used the prior version of this in the canoe - fits 5-3700 boxes (more if they're 3701) plus lots of gear the in side pockets.

Just to confirm, fishUSA is a reputable fishing supplier Right?
Feel safe I've placed several orders with them over the last few years. Good service, quick shipping. I go there for my Rapala needs as they carry the widest selection of types and colors of any other place I've shopped.

Catching a record-breaking fish out of season
Wouldn't be the first time...or even the second. There were a couple years when I lived in Bemidji that we were fighting ice-floes during walleye/pike opener.

Ice fishing for bass?
Bass are occasionally caught, but most ice-fishing is for panfish. Northern and Walleye are also targeted, but with stouter rigs...or even spearing for northerns. BTW: a lot of that film was shot here in MN - I actually caught a glimpse of Ann when I was in downtown Minneapolis one time in the middle of filming the first one.

Garmin Echomap with LakeVu and small lakes?
Per Garmin. "Complete coverage of a square area is the best case and is roughly 1 MB for every 1000 acres. " https://support.garmin.com/da-DK/?faq=MUHOR5mlGF9jrcszEhYrq5 Since 1gb is 1000mb, 32gb would hold 32 million acres in best case scenario.

Sleek new outboard motor
I looked around - the 20hp EFI is $3,500 - that's the one I'd put on the F-9...if I could afford it.

Max flipping weight for rod?
If you put a 1-1/2 oz weight, then a decent size plastic that can weigh upwards of 1/2oz or more - you better be darn careful with it. I dunno where you looked but my Fury 765FLIP is rated to 2oz and the 805FLIP is rated to 2-1/2 oz. Sounds like you got the 7'4" Full Contact - which isn't a 'flipping rod' The 7'11" Knockout would be a flipping rod and is rated to 2-1/2 oz.

KastKing Speed Demon Deadbolt
Nope - no drag. From KastKing "KastKing built the Speed Demon Deadbolt reel that is a real performance baitcasting reel with no drag. Let me repeat…no drag. There's no star drag. The fishing reel is locked down solid. There's no drag so there's no chance of your drag slipping or ever loosening up. Why are rod/reel sales numbers kept quiet?
Well, a little digging Rapala/VMC - 2020 sales $261m - public company, traded on NASDAQ Pure Fishing - 2019 sales $500m - private company. Oh - an addendum As of last February - Pure Fishing's owners now hold almost 20% of Rapala/VMC's stock. "According to a stock exchange release from Rapala, US-based Sycamore purchased 7.5 million shares, which represents 19.23% of total shares and voting rights." https://angling-international.com/2021/02/18/pure-fishing-owner-invests-in-rapala-vmc-corporation/

Omnia?
Ya - and their main drive is just online sales. If you go into their facility, it's basically just a service desk with racks of lures, line and gear behind it. You can't just walk in and browse like a brick-n-mortar store. You order online, then walk in to pick your items up - like ordering hardware from Fastenal or Grainger.

Why are rod/reel sales numbers kept quiet?
What if the holding companies put out figures. Pure Fishing - Abu, Berkley, Fenwick, Pflueger, Shakespeare, Zebco...and others. Normark - Rapala, Sufix, VMC, Storm...and others.

Omnia?
I'm a little biased...they're local so if I place an order in the morning, I can go pick it up that afternoon.

Do you really need to spend $100+ for a good rod?
Case in point - KVD mostly uses his own signature line of rods and reels - all priced around that $100 mark.
