Cheap Reels
I got one when Fleet Farm had them for $60 - specifically for my flip/pitch setup. The smaller spool means I don't need near the backing, and I'm only putting 40-50yds of 50# braid on it. Aluminum frame, high speed (I got the 8.3), light weight...great little reel.

Recent mono quality
Braid and Mono I'm a Sufix guy - though I use Elite instead of Siege...still a great line.

How much does spool weight really matter? MGL?
Owned it for 16 years - went through 3 clutches in that time...so ya.

Been there - my '98 Chevy 1500WT had a 5-speed manual...always fun on hills.

The under-spins (marabou and curly tail) aren't Blakemore - they're BPS 'knock-offs'. The gift card was a BPS card - only way I spend money there anymore.

River smallie crank bait/ jerk bait set up suggestions
I don't know the exact issues - there was a discussion about it a couple years ago but basically the quality seems to have gone down. And now with the 2022 models, Pflueger is eliminating the AR switch - no more back-reeling (started with the 2021 Trion)

Cheap Reels
Instead of going Chinese - go Korean. Doyo makes most of the reels for other companies, just makes them to their specs. Pflueger, Abu, Lews - all their lower end reels come out of the Doyo factory.

S & W EZ pistol
I used the sights on my Baretta 84BB - a .380 isn't designed to stop something unless you hit something critical...so the need for the sights so you can aim at something important.

River smallie crank bait/ jerk bait set up suggestions
The President has had issues since the 2018 model - I have a 2017, but I'd steer clear of any later. Shimano Sedona would fit the bill - a Sahara would be better for a bit more money. Or get a President XT LE-30 for $60 - I've got two of them and they're still very good reels https://www.basspro.com/shop/en/pflueger-president-xt-limited-edition-spinning-reel

Okuma Reflexions B RX-S-721MLB - 7'2" ML/MF-F spinning, rated for 1/8-5/8 lures I have the Reflexions A RX-S-701MLB - same rating but 2" shorter...makes a great crank/jerk rod for lighter one...it's actually my main crank/jerk rod for anything under 3/8, but will handle up to 1/2 without an issue. $75

Powerbait Crappie Nibbles - one each 'Gold Rush' and 'Neon Chartreuse'.

Crankbait Reel
If that's your price range - I'd say look no further. The MagForce-Z braking system on the Fuego is top-notch...I rarely have backlashes, and pretty much only when I do something stupid.

Greatest Album Titles of All Time
If we're doing local bands - my brother-in-law headed two...the second one formed from half the former members of the first The Sandwiches - 'Rock On, Scubatron' The Chinch Bugs - 'Infestation'

~1oz Topwater Rod
I thought about that - may have to try it out this coming year. Pflueger Supreme-30 on an Okuma Reflexions A 7' MH/F rod (rated to 1-1/4 oz) with 20# 832...it's my main skipping rig currently...but larger topwaters - Hmmm.

Crankbait Reel
My Fury 705CB (ya, that's the same rod) has a Fuego CT 6.3:1 on it. It's my main crank/medium topwater rig. I run chatters on a MH/F rig with a faster reel. Reel size isn't a big issue...I put 70-80yds of mainline (12# Yo-Zuri Hybrid in this case) on top of enough 10# Berkley Big Game backing to fill the reel.

So not bass lures - but considering we have anywhere from 2-6 weeks of open water before bass season opens...I fish crappie. Got an out-of-the-blue gift card, so spent it on crappie lures.

~1oz Topwater Rod
Currently, a 7' Aird-X H/F Though my wishlist has a Dobyns 735C on it.

How well do You deal with getting skunked?
As I stated in another thread....I'm out to enjoy the quiet time on the water....if I catch something, it's a bonus. So being skunked isn't a bad thing, it's just a thing.

football jig
3/8 and 1/2 footballs I toss on a 7' MH/F rod with 15# Tatsu. If I'm tossing 3/4oz...that's on a 7' H/F with 40#832 and maybe an AbrazX leader in 20# depending on water clarity...stained/plankton heavy I dispense with the leader.

Pflueger Spinning Reel Choice
Metal body instead of a graphite body is the big different.

Ya - keep your hands off my picks....

How would you use these setups?
For the casting rods: Put the moderate as the crank/jerk rod - also topwaters (spooks, WPs, etc)...pretty much any treble-hook lure. Put the 'true' one as the jig rod - T-Rigs and C-Rigs also work here. Put the last one as your moving-baits rod - do the frogs on that one too as you need more 'oomph' to set the hooks on a frog. Spinning rod - drop-shot, wacky, neko, shakey.

For some reason BASS doesn't want to let me direct clip my roster...so Win-7 Snipping Tool to the rescue. I set my roster right when it first opened last month...and saw no reason to change it...even left my Tie breaker the same...we'll see how I do.

Squarebill gear
YZH - it's the only way to crank.
