  1. Legacy - pre-BF - 25% off vs TW's 20% off
  2. I like a smaller reel for drop-shot and other finesse - but a President XT-30 would be my suggestion. Little larger than a 2000, it's about a 2500 - and a little over your budget at $80. The new Presidents aren't up to the standards of the older ones and the new Trions are lacking an anti-reverse switch. The Purist is a possibility, but I'm unsure of it. For reference, the 25 size in Pflueger is around a 1000 size for other brands.
  3. What size XT? I'd suggest a different rod for a 20 or 25 than for a 30 or 35. If you're thinking Medium power, I'm thinking 30...which is about a 2500 size from others. A spinning fast action is like a casting moderate-fast - so take that into consideration. I'd suggest a Sierra 703SF for the price range you're looking at...and wait for sales coming in about a month - you can save 20%-25% off retail.
  4. 5 Anal fin spines and 11 dorsal spines say it's a Rock Bass Warmouth has only 3 anal fin spines and 10 dorsal spines.
  5. Take Tank out for a run around Menderchuck - that'll tire you out.
  6. Sold out on the St. Croix site - so they probably don't have any to ship to retailers. Been the story throughout COVID-19 - lots of things unable to be gotten, especially recreational items. It's getting better, but might be a while before we're back to normal and things are available again.
  7. This one right here - it's on sale. The 30 size is about a 2500, the 35 size is about a 3000 - ya, Pflueger's sizes are a bit 'wonky'. https://www.sportsmans.com/fishing-gear-supplies/fishing-reels/spinning-reels/pflueger-supreme-spinning-reel/p/1399280?channel=shopping
  8. I did a WhoIs (checks website registration) and it came back to China. I don't think Diawa (a Japanese company) would run a web-site from China, or associate with a site in China.
  9. At just shy of 62, I still do oil changes, tune-ups, radiator flush/fills - but more major things that I use to do on my older vehicles I now have someone else do. Luckily, the cross-street neighbor is a 'shade-tree mechanic' - his day job is mechanic for Sun Country, but he rebuilds ATVs, bikes, cars and SUVs as a side-line. So far for my '01 Silverado he's redone the rear suspension and given me a new brake system (master cylinder all the way down, including new lines) at a fraction of the cost of putting it in the shop.
  10. There's more expensive spool 'tamers' out there - specifically tagged for fishing line...but I got a pack of these. Labeled for beading wire, but everything from 4# YZH to 15# Tatsu to 40# 832 works just fine, thank you. https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00KAZ137Y/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1
  11. Yep...dat's dem.
  12. The only two of the 'sub-brands' that are on Amazon that I'll order from are Harmony and Reaction - good items, good prices...American Companies Harmony is out of Philadelphia, PA Reaction is out of Big Bend, WI
  13. 2-Months for me - prepping the canoe for sale then selling it, working on the Alumacraft...and health issues with the wife to boot.
  14. Dad and mom have been set up for years...as they're both 87 and in failing health, it's not going to be long - couple years maybe. Cremation - pre-paid Burial plots - Ft. Snelling National Cemetery...already reserved (Dad's a Navy vet) Accounts - sister has all the info...she's also the executor.
  15. Are you using your thumb on the spool while casting for fine control? Even my Patriarchs - which also have dual braking - can't cast all the time without thumbing the spool. I can do it occasionally, but I'd rather be safe than sorry, so I always thumb the spool while casting. Other than that - every lure is different and I always find myself tweaking the mag settings...the centrifugal pins I just leave at 3-on/3-off.
  16. I'm with Keith - the Alumacraft I got was water ready, came with a functional trailer and a working 30# Minnkota C-2...paid less than $700 for it. I'm ripping it apart and rebuilding it because I want to...not because it needs it to fish from. That Tracker that needs work...no trailer...I think Keith's lower figure is about right. Also...sitting out that long...I'd make sure it was water tight before starting anything.
  17. Once I get everything done on it, I'm gonna do a walk-around vid of the trailer.
  18. Don't jinx us - they're predicting mid-50s for highs by the weekend.
  19. Heck - any decent moonshine will do that. Hope you heal up soon so you can get back out and conquer that patch.

Ya - LCD display...once it starts to 'leak' it just spreads You should be able to find a screen protector for any unit - really a finder (no matter the brand or model) is just a computer with a dedicated function. No different than your smart-phone or tablet...just different software really.
  21. Sorry - you'll have to ship the extras up here as I'll be confiscating them...for your protection of course...wouldn't want you to get in trouble for being over the legal limit.
  22. Use of any finned fish as bait for any purpose in CA is regulated district by district - Pg 17: https://nrm.dfg.ca.gov/FileHandler.ashx?DocumentID=177572&inline
  23. 40# 832 is my go-to for two of my rigs...the only two baitcasters that have braid in fact.
