  1. And a Happy Samhain back at ya.
  2. Probably... You can go back to sleep now.
  3. Sometimes selling it yourself pays off too. I sold the canoe for just about what I had into it, advertising on 4 different market-sites.
  4. Clear your cache - I'm seeing that little goby that he's holding in his hand
  5. Look at it this way, John...4 years is recent compared to some that have been resurrected in the past year.
  6. Have you checked with Lowrance directly?
  7. 72k+ members - about 500-1000 active the last six months or so... You're gonna get probably a few thousand answers...for me, it depends on what technique I'm using at the time...so there's 3 rigs I'd call 'favorite' at this point.
  8. All the Strikers are - you'd have to get an Echomap to have built-in maps and the card slot to add updated maps to them. For basic fishing I find that down-imaging is enough. Would I like side-imaging? Of course...but it's not in the budget at this time.
  9. Even though I've fished Minnetonka off-and-on for decades, I still like having maps...lets me see structure beforehand to give me an idea of where to try based on the time of the year. Right now, those maps are Navionics running on my Tablet as I have a Striker 7...probably get a map equipped unit next year...this years funds are already designated.
  10. If you want built-in maps with the ability to update them - drop the Garmin off the list. Only maps available are those shared via Active Captain that other users have uploaded to the Garmin Community. Lowrance and Humminbird both have the ability to plug a micro-SD card in that has maps. The Helix can use Navionics or Lakemaster cards, the Reveal can use Navionics, C-Map or Genesis cards. The Reveal comes with 4000 lakes already loaded.
  11. I haven't fished in 2 months - working on the new boat has taken all my free time...what little I have to begin with.
  12. I don't catch the numbers of panfish at a time that most do - maybe 1/2 dozen a trip - so I just use my Rapala fillet knife. Yep - fillets...pack into the freezer better and no worries about bones. Take them off the 'skeleton' first, then just a run down the inside of the skin to separate.
  13. Either my 7.3:1 (31ipt) for the lighter spooks (Zara Puppy, etc) on the medium rod or 7.1:1 (29ipt) on the medium-heavy rod for the bigger ones.
  14. I pulled the quilt out of the closet a couple days ago.
  15. Upper end - Seaguar Smackdown or Sufix 131 Mid-tier - Sufix 832 I won't go lower than that.
  16. 3x3700 shallow boxes and 1x3700 standard box...all pretty much full I toss cranks on 3 different rigs 6.3:1 Fuego on a Fury 705CB 0 majority of my crank work 7.3:1 President XT on a Fury 703C - squarebills and lipless Avocet RZT-1000 on a Reflexions ML/MF - jointed shallow shad-rap, small lipless (Ratlin Rap 05, etc) and other small/light cranks.
  17. Same here - a light, a dark, a 'natural' and in some baits - an off the wall like merthiolate or bubblegum.
  18. ^ Johnson Controls manufacture...ya, I'd stay away.
  19. I'm looking at Duracells for the F-9 - a 31 for the TM and a 27 for the rest. About $100 each at Batteries Plus.
  20. If you can swing the Optima - get it...Yellow top is your best bet for deep-cycle usage. Last I knew - Johnson Controls made the Energizer marine batteries...JC might have more sales than EP - but I think it's because their batteries don't last as long, so lots of 're-sales'.
  21. I'll second the YZH recommendation - I use 12# on my crank rig and 4# on my ML/MF rig. Long as you treat it with KVD L&L it's pretty manageable.
  22. Anything made by East Penn - Deka, MK, Napa, Duracell, West Marine and others are all made by East Penn...do the research to make sure. You're looking for a Deep Cycle instead of a Starting or Dual-Purpose battery. Best balance of power reserve and price would be an AGM. I'd shoot for a Group-31 with at least a 90AH capacity...getting two and hooking them in parallel (Pos-to-Pos, Neg-to-Neg) will double your AH. Larger batteries (group number is the size) have better 'holding power' on the capacity.
  23. Everyone learns at some point - my learning on boats was when I was a teen (decades ago) and we had a 17' Plywood runabout with a 1959 Chrysler 50hp followed by a 16' Fiberglass runabout with a 40hp Myself - I owned a 14' runabout with a 40hp for a number of years...then had to sell it due to some financial problems. Now I'm rebuilding a 14' Alumacraft into a bass-boat. Break Out Another Thousand

If it looks to be just surface rust - a vinegar soak (couple hours) and a bit of work with a diamond file should take care of it...don't forget to resharpen the point. Once that's done - take a good look through a magnifier - if you see pitting on the shank...forget it, the rusting has burrowed into the hook and it's time to replace the lure. Your trailer is a tribute to that.
