9-11-2001 - Where were you?
Was already hip-deep in a coding issue when the first plane hit, took lunch at my desk, too brain-dead from fighting the compuker all day to register what my office-mates were talking about as I headed out, listened to a CD on the way home...then the wife told me what had been going on all day...so was after 5pm before I even knew.

Some guidance if you will.
With 5 of my 12 rods being Furys, I wholeheartedly endorse this recommendation.

Dobyns Fury Spinning Rod Question
And it's hit-or-miss. My current rigs include a President-25 on a Fury 702SF and President XT-30 on a Fury 703SF - and they fit just fine.
-
Spinning reel maintenance
I just use what I've been using for almost 50 years - Abu Grease and Oil...hasn't failed me yet.

Dobyns Fury Spinning Rod Question
Replacing the handle without Dobyns being involved will void the warranty. There are some reels that won't fit Dobyn's rods - I'd work with where you bought it to exchange the Fury for maybe a St. Croix BassX...about the same price.

Spinning reel maintenance
Clean everything Grease the gears Oil the bearings Don't use too much grease/oil, doesn't take much This from a guy who's been using Pflueger Reels for 40+ years

My first St. Croix. What to throw on the PS70MHF
Oh I know that - which is why I won't run a 3/4 oz weighted T-Rig on my 704C which is my normal T-Rig rod - hook and fair size plastic would put it over the rating. That rig would go on my Aird-X H/F...

My first St. Croix. What to throw on the PS70MHF
If you're sure - I wouldn't want to test that theory...I try to keep my lures in the rod's stated range.

My first St. Croix. What to throw on the PS70MHF
Uhh John - the Premier 7' MH/F spinning rod is rated for 3/8 – 3/4oz lures...it's like Dobyns rods in that respect...rated less than the words would indicate. https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/St_Croix_Premier_Spinning_Rods/descpage-SCPSR.html?from=BASRES

My first St. Croix. What to throw on the PS70MHF
That rod has pretty much the same line/lure ratings as my Aird-X M/F - so what I'd throw on it is, lipless cranks, shallow cranks, squarebills, light T-Rigs, light finesse jigs, shakyheads, soft swimbaits, wacky, neko.
-
Talons Vs Powerpoles
Static PP won't help either - as the wake-waves will lift them off the bottom...don't know if the active anchoring system can respond quick enough in that situation either. Best idea - quieter bay/cove...probably better fishing there too without all the noise.
-
GIN clear
I'll occasionally have a gin & tonic, but my regular drink is Irish Whiskey...neat.
-
Swivel snap plus split ring
I would NOT use swivels on anything other than in-line spinners. A swivel on something like a crankbait would affect it's action too much. All I use on cranks/jerks is an oval or teardrop split-ring...then tie to that.
-
Paddletail swimbait
Eco Pro Swing Shad or R.I. Skinny Dipper. I don't even have any Keitech paddletails.
-
GIN clear
For bass...no...stained or 'dirty' is better. For rainbow or lake trout...definitely want it clear as possible. One lake I always caught nice rainbow on up in northern MN was clear enough you could see the bottom at 30'+.
-
GIN clear
I get enough grammar police with my on-line published writing...don't need it here too.
-
Muskie attack ? Really.
Better yet - go skinny-dipping...then there's some 'bait' dangling.
-
Getting ready for winter. Need some crankbaits.
I consider 12' as mid-depth. 20'+ I'd call deep.

Just want to say hi yall is posting pics ok not sure
Does the picture promote a retailer/manufacturer/Website/YouTube Channel? Logo in the corner would do it.

Anyone else in my “boat”
He was looking it over when we did the 'hand-off' and kept muttering "Holy cow". When I showed him the anchor-trolley system, his jaw dropped. The fact that I included a couple rigs and a selection of tackle was a bonus for him. Ad led off with ***Buy today, fish tomorrow***

Anyone else in my “boat”
Since I got the Alumacraft and prepped the canoe for selling, I haven't been out either. Now that the canoe is sold, it'll be next spring before I even have the chance...lots of work to do. Might get out shore fishing a bit between now and ice-in...dunno.

Question about…slip bobbers
I just use the standard rubber stops...same as I use for T-Rigs. Course I'm on spinning gear - my Avocet RZT-1000/Procyon L/F or the Avocet RZT-2000/Reflexions ML/MF...larger guides. Sometimes I have the stop up far enough it gets on the spool, but VERY rarely does it get hung-up casting.

Canoe modification
AND... It's gone Picked up 1/2 hour ago, buyer paid cash...now I got the money to invest in the Alumacraft This thread is DONE!

You guys up north have some intestinal fortitude
Back when I had the runabout...there were a few occasions I encountered that type of weather on Minnetonka. Much fun!
