  1. Omnia has Z-Man Original Chatterbaits and Rapala DT series for 25% off through Monday.
  2. 6-ratio is what I use for crankbaits. Have a Fuego CT 6.3:1 mounted on a Dobyns Fury 705CB as my crank rig.
  3. I know I've bounced a crankbait off the head of one...he came up just as my crank was about to hit the water...perfect timing.
  4. Tie it the same way - with one hook 'up' and the other two 'down'.
  5. Why am I not surprised, Chris? YZH for the win!
  6. I use KVD - but not on braid. Mono, FC, Co-Polymer all get it though. One good 'soak' while spooling the line on the reel - get a washcloth decently wet and run the line through it while spooling. Other than that, just a few spritzes the night before I go out. Never needed to re-apply while out in the canoe.
  7. One other thing I did was finish removing the steel wool someone had shoved down the forward section of the trailer. @TnRiver46: you'll get a kick out of this. In amongst that were cracked open shells of acorns...seems chipmunks or small squirrels had been using the forward part as a stash point...didn't find any nesting, but the amount of cracked open acorns was impressive.
  8. There are some fairly major differences https://knowhow.napaonline.com/marine-battery-vs-car-battery-what-are-the-differences/ https://www.centurybatteries.com.au/products/marine/car-batteries-vs-marine-batteries
  9. I had to correct the crew that redid my garage and porch roof a couple years ago. State code requires 'hurricane straps' on the roof trusses cause of our tornado chances here...guess what they forgot to install on their 'first run' through. Even the foreman, when I asked him what was wrong with the work, didn't 'see' it. Had to point it out to him.
  10. I hear you there, Sean. I ran a cabinetmaking business out of my basement for 15 years as a sideline to my IT work - specialized in custom bookcases, display cases, curio cabinets. Made a number of sales, but many people didn't want to pay for the types of things I did - like insetting the shelves in blind dado joints, using hardwood sheathed plywood as the backing board instead of cheap press-board, using high quality woods like maple, walnut and oak. One sale I made, he wanted it purple I suggested Purpleheart - this is the color it comes out of the tree It darkens over the years like this When I showed him samples of fresh and aged purpleheart - he was more than willing to pay the extra expense. Most people would rather have painted pine than quality work...which is why I shut down.

New this year, Ski - introduced at ICAST. May not be a lot out there in stores yet.
  12. Ya - my two BCs that have braid...only one gets a leader, and that's only occasionally. Only rig that always has a leader is my finesse spinning rig. 10# braid to 6#FC, tied with a FG knot. 12' of leader to start...no issues casting with that.
  13. Braid - can use a leader, but not necessary if you take proper precautions...I.E. don't try to move a mountain when you set the hook FC - I don't see a need for a leader with FC...ever. If you're putting a leader on braid for 'shock absorption' you'll want 8' plus...a lot of guys go for 15'-20'. A 3' or shorter leader isn't going to stretch enough to work for absorbing impact on hook-set. When my leader gets close to 3' from break-offs or lure changes...that's when I take it off and retie a new leader. FG, Albright, Alberto...all good knots for mainline-to-leader connection that'll pass through your guides with little effort...no need to let the leader and knot hang outside the tip-top.
  14. Get another Patriarch or a Patriarch XT - the Patriarch I have has been very good to me. Unfortunately, it'd be a used one, or an overstock new one offered on the Auction Site as Pflueger seems to have stopped making them
  15. I just ignore the 'local guys' and get my weather straight from the NWS...that's where the locals get their data anyway.
  16. On my Galaxy, I usually have to shrink it to 20% original size...my phone shoots at 3000x4000...so I drop it to 600x800 and that's usually the ticket.
  17. What ever you do...DON'T post any pics!
  18. Limited though - they only have one size and three colors. Maxscent flat worms come in two sizes and fourteen colors.
  19. Backwards for you or for the rest of us?
  20. Way to go, man. AOY is great for any club.
  21. Past sales where they 'excluded' those brands. Black Friday one year, they said Diawa wasn't included, but I got the discount on the Procyon rod I picked up.
  22. Exactly - don't fix what ain't broken.
