Baitcasting combo for frogs
Too bad Scheels sold out of their Pflueger Supreme left-handed reels...they had them at discount to $69.

Baitcasting combo for frogs
That's the rod I have for frogging Reel? Sheels (Pflueger) Purist. I've got a Fuego CT on my Aird-X H/F

Baitcasting combo for frogs
I'm a rightie - but my left arm is the stronger one (mild bursitis in the right shoulder), so a right-hand retrieve reel fits me perfectly...I even swapped all my spinning reels to be right-retrieve.

Redesigning my 14' Aluminum v-hull...
Long as it works. I would have used JB Weld then an angle-grinder with twist-lock discs to smooth it out, but I'm a little OCD that way.

Boat trailer jack
Trailer on the newly acquired boat may be old, but the Fulton on the front still performs great.

Brakes or Magnets?
I've noticed the same thing with my Patriarch - which is also a dual-brake reel. It backlashes less often, and only when I do something 'stupid' when casting with it. Other than that reel, I have either standard magnetic (my other Pfluegers) or Magforce (pair of Fuegos). The Magforce does do a better job than standard magnetic, but I can still bird's nest with the best of them if I don't pay attention to the settings.

Joining the 'real' boat crowd
Still working on 'dismantling' the trailer - but a test shows that I'll be able to take it down to bare metal with a little effort. Klean Strip Paint and Varnish remover pulls the old paint off...both layers...fairly easily and quickly Rust Oleum Rust Destroyer is clearing all the surface rust. The test area I did almost looks like new steel. Another thing I'm doing, is laying out the plan instead of working 'off the cuff' like I did with the canoe. Found an overhead image of the boat...little blurry cause I had to upscale it. A little work with my photo editor...and now I have a blank slate that I can print out as many times as I want. Prints out at 1:20 so with my engineering ruler on the 20 scale means 1 mark is 1 inch

Ummm - looking a little zoned out there, man.

I'm looking at an angle-grinder from Menards actually for $14...already have a disc adapter and a sanding disc adapter that I've been using on my reversible Skill electric drill or the Ryobi 18V...so just need the grinder. Cross the street neighbor has a more powerful grinder if I need it...and a sawzall...can borrow when I need them. His air and electric tools are all either Dewalt or Millwaukee

Ya - most air-tools I need I borrow from my cross-the-street neighbor. I do use my own compressor though...little 2.5gallon pancake.

Fishing Line Ratings and Stiffness...???
It's not just you. My 4# YZH is MUCH more supple than my 10#, 12# or 15# Same between my 6# InvizX and my 12# InvizX Higher in test you go, the thicker the line, and the more stiff it is. Braid still suffers this, in my experience, but the difference is less. My 10# Sufix 832 is just a bit more supple than my 40#...but the difference isn't near as great as it is with Mono, FC or Hybrid.

Well...there's always the angle-grinder route.

Just getting the old bunks off - snapped two 3/8" bolts...they were that rusted on. Thankfully, I do own a breaker-bar.

He's getting it too - I've already pulled it...just have to box it up and ship it out.

That's the whole plan, my friend...winter project. Probably won't be able to paint until just before ice-out - but the rest should be done.

Line for my spinning setup.
I'd even go down to 4# YZH...that's what I have on the spinning rig I caught this baby on...break tests show it hold to over 8#.

It's a partial tuck-under and I've got a good space heater that'll bring the temp up to around 50 even when it's -20 outside.

That's one other thing that's fine - almost new tires, and new hubs last year. I'm still going to inspect and maybe re-pack the bearings...just to be safe.

no wake zones. when people dont follow it
Ya - and they got rid of a baitshop/outboard repair place to put that 'eyesore' in that spot.

Any smokers out there(?)
Almost 62 years old, smoking for 52 of that...never had a health issue related to smoking. My grand-uncle Nils smoked from the time he was 8 until he died at 94....of complications from ALS. Healthy as a horse until the ALS kicked in when he was 76 My grand-father Wallace smoked from the age of 11 until he died in a plane crash...at 84...also healthy as a horse. I could quote more examples from my genetic line...some families are seemingly immune to the harmful effects. Don't paint a broad brush...not everyone is the same.

Shelf life of flurocarbon and mono
You mean in one of these, in the basement?

All this Flouro talk lately
My 3000 size I'm running braid. My 2000 size I have 8# InvizX on. I consider it almost a necessity. If it ain't braid, it gets KVD.

I guess we do better here. Plastic seats and the contracted service comes by at least a couple times a week. One thing I get a kick out of is how they 'play' with the printed vehicle tonnage on their service trucks.

no wake zones. when people dont follow it
Wasn't Tonka by chance, was it? I think sometimes the wakeboats purposefully buzz the smaller boats. I know there's been times when half the bay is available, and they pass close to me in the canoe for some reason. Morons.

Ya - just finishing doing a cleaning and touch-up on it this weekend. Take some pictures and post it in a couple places this coming week.
